The farm is a 100 acre organic upland farm situated on Hadrian's Wall in North Cumbria. We also run a self catering cottage and provide meals for the local primary school using produce from our no-dig veg plot where we can. Wwoofers would be very welcome to help with tasks such as tending the vegetable garden, working with our two horses, fencing, walling, weeding and seasonal jobs such as haymaking. There may be some work in the self catering unit but this will be minimal. We also have a wood burning boiler, so there may be work collecting wood from the farm and processing it. We have cows on the farm from a local organic micro dairy and we are hoping to also get chickens in the spring.
Accommodation is a bedroom in the house with either ensuite or private bathroom. We will provide either ingredients for vegetarian meals or cook the meals ourselves - whichever suits best.
This area is rich in history and has lots of museums and sites of interest. It has reasonably good transport links in the summer and is easy to get to Carlisle, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow and the Lake District. We think this farm would be particularly suitable to a couple or two friends.
