The farm is a 100 acre organic upland farm situated on Hadrian's Wall in North Cumbria. We also run a self catering cottage and provide meals for the local primary school using produce from our no-dig veg plot where we can. Wwoofers would be very welcome to help with tasks such as tending the vegetable garden, working with our two horses, fencing, walling, weeding and seasonal jobs such as haymaking. There may be some work in the self catering unit but this will be minimal. We also have a wood burning boiler, so there may be work collecting wood from the farm and processing it. We have cows on the farm from a local organic micro dairy and we are hoping to also get chickens in the spring. Accommodation is a bedroom in the house with either ensuite or private bathroom. We will provide either ingredients for vegetarian meals or cook the meals ourselves - whichever suits best. This area is rich in history and has lots of museums and sites of interest. It has reasonably good transport links in the summer and is easy to get to Carlisle, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow and the Lake District. We think this farm would be particularly suitable to a couple or two friends. You can see pictures and learn more about Willowford on our website www.willowford.co.uk

We just had the best time with Lauren, Liam and and Anna at Their lovely Farm! This was our first wwofing experience and we could Not have asked for a better start! We learned a lot about different plants and how to take Care of different animals. Our work included harvesting, feeding the pigs, Building a compost, Collecting eggs, process Food from the Field, weeding and Watering the plants. There are a lot of different animals living around the Farm, which was Great! We always felt like being a member of the Family and had Lots of fun. My stay at willowford farm was everything I could’ve dreamed of. From working on the veg plot (the beans and peas were amazing) to taking care of the sheep and playing games in the evenings and afternoons. Not to forget, the food was amazing. Lauren and Liam are incredibly welcoming and open to share their knowledge. I learned a lot and could not describe it as anything other than a great first wwoofing experience. Thank you so much :))

We had a wonderful time at Willowford farm! We stayed for a week, and from the minute we arrived we felt welcome and part of the family. And what a lovely family they are! We had all the meals together, and played games in the evening. There were 5 wwoofers during our stay. In the weekend, Liam and Lauren were travelling to cities in the region and offered to take us to places that are interesting to visit. Liam made sure that the tasks we worked on could be completed during our stay, so that we could see the result and enjoy a sense of accomplishment. The farm and its setting are postcard-perfect, it really is a magical place. The Hadrian's wall runs almost through the house, the river just below, and there are many opportunities for a stroll or longer hikes. All in all, we feel very lucky... This really was the perfect wwoofing experience for us, and we will have fond memories for the times to come. Thank you Lauren, Liam and Anna!

I had a marvelous time within Hadrian’s Wall. I’ve already decided to come back next month! I highly recommend this farm to anyone who wants to spend time with adorable animals and this lovely family. The Garden is blessed with amazing soil, and the harvested vegetables were sweet and truly delicious! During my stay, there were four other WWOOFers, I was lucky to enjoy such a lively time. The work mainly involved tending to the fields, all of which I found enjoyable. I also helped with filming the farm, but I wasn’t satisfied with the results of zooming, so please let me shoot again! Lauren, Liam, and their daughter Anna are a truly lovely family, and their communication are exceptional. I’m so grateful for the relaxed environment where I could chat freely! Liam mainly taught us the farm work, giving precise instructions while respecting the WWOOFers’ intentions. He’s an incredible cook, preparing delicious, multicultural meals every day, and after meals, Lauren would brew tasty herbal tea, it was a perfect combination. Lauren and I share a love for a classical painter, and I was delighted that the film and books she recommended were all to my favourite. Anna, who prepares desserts after dinners, is great at teaching! And since I love children’s books, she lent me a lot wonderful books from her collection. Thank you so much everyone, see you soon.

I had a fantastic stay at willowford farm ! Lauren, Liam, and Anna were so lovely and welcoming, and I felt really at home in the beautiful farmhouse. The surrounding scenery is absolutely incredible and there are lovely hikes and historical sites right on the doorstep. I had a great time working in the garden and learnt a lot about growing and farming from Liam who was a great teacher. It was fantastic to take care of the horses and have a go at riding them. Thankyou so much for a brilliant 2 weeks <3
