We welcome people staying with us so we can share our passion for green gardening, rewilding, cooking and self-sufficiency.
As a non-commercial, self-sufficient household we grow most of our fruit and vegetables ourselves supplemented by food from the wild. Ex-wwoof ourselves, we are a Dutch couple with two cats trying to live in balance with nature (we even built our own mini-stone circle!).
We are currently rewilding 4 acres of Scottish hillside with the aim of providing an educational food forest for our community (Circle of the Good Life). Other things we do are various projects like building a bothy and preparing wood to keep us warm for winter and maintaining the vegetable beds. We make our own bread, wine, beer and jam from our own produce or picked from the wild. Any recipe ideas are more than welcome! We love sharing how nature is coming back to the Glen and how we ourselves can live in harmony with nature once again.
Nestled in the Ochil Hills, the location is pretty isolated, with just one neighbouring house and no public transport nearby. Nearest village is 7 miles. Nearest towns are Stirling or Perth (both 20 miles) with good transport links to Edinburgh and Glasgow. Wifi is available but mobile signal is weak or non-existent, fortunately!
Accommodation is a double bed in our spare bedroom, so it would suit either a couple or one wwoof-er. Staying in a tent away from the house is also a possibility, but beware of the midges. We prefer non-smokers.
We welcome helpers (minimum age 21) in the months June until October. Meals are seasonal and shared at our house and we can cook vegetarian/vegan/gluten free, but we occasionally eat wild meat ourselves. We love doing board games, listen to music or watch movies.
Although we're not religious, we tend to celebrate the change of seasons and believe in reciprocation. Our home is open to any religion. Scotland can be pretty cold sometimes and so we recommend to bring a warm jumper. You can watch videos of what we do at our dedicated YouTube channel 'Circle of the Good Life'.
