Wake up to birdsong over ancient meadows, move cattle through fresh pasture, welcome newborn lambs in spring, and help grow food in a thriving wildlife garden — all on our 50-acre regenerative farm in the beautiful Kent countryside. We combine high-welfare livestock farming with conservation, working with others at a landscape scale to improve the environment and restore nature, including involvement in the South East Rivers Trust’s River Beult water project. At the heart of Green Farm is our charity, the Pearce Coggan Foundation, dedicated to connecting people with the outdoors and creating opportunities for those who might not otherwise have access. If you love animals, nature and practical outdoor work, you’ll feel right at home here. We would love some support on our farm and with our charity's wildlife community garden. Everything from moving cattle to mending fences, lambing in April and woodland management as well as lots of activities in the community garden. Anyone with a passion for animals, nature or gardening would love this. Also a great opportunity if you have diy skills. We have a variety of jobs to do depending on the time of year and here are some of them. LAMBING In the first and second weeks of April we’ll be lambing our four ewes, a special and busy time here on the smallholding. WWOOFers staying with us may have the chance to observe (and, depending on experience and confidence, assist with) regular lambing checks, monitoring ewes closely, and making sure newborn lambs are strong and feeding well. Our sheep lamb outdoors with access to shelter, so this involves frequent field checks, early mornings, and being attentive to changing weather. It’s a hands-on and rewarding opportunity to learn about small-scale sheep care at a crucial time of year. HAYMAKING In the middle of July we cut some of our fields for Hay GENERAL MAINTENANCE We are looking for someone to help us with general maintenance jobs such as helping to fix fences, so we are looking for someone who is very pratical and can work on their own sometimes without supervision. Some experience in carpentary, diy and power tools or even chain-saw experience would be useful. They would also help with animal care as well as helping in our charity wildlife community garden. THE WILDLIFE GARDEN Our gardening focus is at the heart of what we do. We practise no-dig, organic growing methods that prioritise soil health, biodiversity, and sustainable food production. As a WWOOFer, you’ll gain practical, hands-on experience in regenerative gardening — from seed to harvest — while learning how thoughtful land management can support both the environment and the local community. This is a chance to immerse yourself in seasonal growing, understand the principles behind sustainable small-scale farming, and be part of a working garden that values care, resilience, and respect for nature. Useful experience includes basic gardening skills (sowing, planting, harvesting, composting), familiarity with organic or no-dig methods, confidence using garden tools, and good physical stamina for outdoor work in all weather. Please mention when wanting to visit if you have an interest in the garden side. Our Farm is a 50 acre co-operative working farm in a very special area of the Kent countryside. Whilst small, the Farm includes areas of ancient pastures and a designated ancient woodland, all within a Kent Local Wildlife Site. Across the property, the Farm landscape varies from permanent pasture to streams, ponds, ancient woodlands, herbal grasslands and of course the original Farmhouse. It is also the home to our charity dedicated to getting people outdoors and active who otherwise would not have the opportunity to do so. LOCATION Just south-west of Ashford, Kent, Our Farm is a conservation-led livestock farm, that is committed to only employing sustainable and regenerative farming practices. The focus is to enhance the land for the wildlife that calls it home, and produce the best quality Beef, Lamb, Mutton and Pork in the most natural way possible. Regenerative farming is based on techniques and thinking to improve soil health that integrates organic farming, permaculture, restoration ecology and holistic management. The make-up of the Farm is 85% traditional grass meadows, 10% ancient oak woodland and 5% farmhouse and surrounding buildings, which we have diversified into our commercial business of luxury accommodation and a boutique Spa. OUR MISSION Whilst The Farm is only 50 acres, we believe a small farm can still have a big positive impact ecologically, agriculturally and within society. We aim to educate and inspire everyone who visits us and beyond the farm gate too, the nucleus of this being the Pearce Coggan Foundation and our Community Wildlife & Vegetable Garden. Creating the most sustainable and environmentally friendly Farm, focusing on producing the best quality 100% grass-fed meat with the highest welfare standards, has always been our mission. Organic methods: No chemical regenerative farming Certifications: 100% organic but not large enough for certification Current projects: We run a regenerative farming focused small holding meaning that we are regularly moving the cattle with electric fencing nearly every day, you would be helping with this, we also check animal health at this time. We have a flock of sheep that we lamb every spring, and then look after throughout the year with things like foot trimming, dagging and general health checking. We have chickens that need feeding and putting in and out of their hutch every morning and evening. We don't eat these, they are for egg production. We make hay from some of our fields in summer, then there will be help with general farm maintenance, fence mending and woodland coppicing etc.. There is always year-round activity in our charity's Wildlife Community Vegetable Garden. Internet access available

I had a wonderful time at [Host]. Thank you to Mary and Martin for welcoming me even a second time, after another stay had to be cancelled! [Host] is a beautiful, well-maintained place. The activities are varied, and there's something for everyone: caring for the animals, maintaining the grounds, gardening (thanks also to Shelly for her warm welcome in the garden), etc. I think there's a good balance between the guidelines and the responsibility given to the WWOOFers. I also find it very interesting that the place, which isn't just a farm, can benefit so many different people, especially the foundation's beneficiaries, families, children, and the elderly. The social and community aspect of [Host] seems very important to me. It's an extra source of motivation. In addition, the accommodations are comfortable, very clean, and the food is really excellent! Thanks also to Martin and Mary for inviting us to the pub several times. Those were also very enjoyable moments.

I could not have had a better first wwoof experience than here on the green farm with Mary and Martin. They gave me lots of opportunities to discover and explore their land, garden and animals which I adored. The other staff such as the chefs (who make the most delicious, fresh and good food for the guests), the gardeners and the spa girls are also super nice so you’re not alone on the farm. It’s so peaceful on this farm. What you do need to realise is that the farm part of their business is quite small compared to the day spa retreat part. The guests always go first. As a WWOOFer you get to stay in one of the guest rooms which are not taken that moment, which was very lovely. All in all, I had a great time and I’d love to come back another time.

I would definitely recommend wwoofing on Green Farm! I spent nearly two months on the farm as I enjoyed it so much and will definitely come back. Everyone was extremely kind especially Shelly and Emma in the community garden with whom I worked the most with. The work they asked me to do was mostly helping in the community garden but also work with the animals and general farm work. Most of the time I worked around 6 hours per day but Maryann and Martin have been pretty flexible with the time schedule for example when I asked for a afternoon off. They also invited me to several activities with them such as pizza nights, cinema or going to restaurants or the coffee shop. I felt very welcomed by them and it felt like being part of the family. I stayed in a lovely room in the beautiful house with a bathroom for myself. Green farm is also well located in a beautiful landscape with easy access to nice walks and day trips to London, Canterbury , Rye etc. . I was also able to use bikes which they offered me to explore the local villages. As well I learned a lot about sustainable farming but also ways to eat and live more sustainable in general. I hope to be back on Green farm soon :)

I had a great two weeks at Green Farm. I helped looking after the animals and worked in the Community vegetable and wildlife Garden. I’m not used to dogs, but the dogs were all friendly and gentle :) Mary Ann and Martin are new to WWOOFing so it was at times a bit disorganised and the role of the WWOOFers was not entirely clear, especially as there are so many different elements to balance (farming, the garden, the spa and retreats) . I had a room which was comfortable and clean and I had easy access to a shower and bathroom. A difficulty was the kitchen which was used by the house and guests as well as the spa and retreats staff. This meant that the kitchen was very busy so it was sometimes difficult to know when to get lunch and what the WWOOFer was allowed to eat (some food was reserved for spa guests etc. ) Mary Ann and Martin were open to feedback and asked for my opinions at the end of my stay. We discussed how organisation and communication could be improved to make the experience more beneficial for them and the WWOOFer. I got the impression that Mary Ann and Martin took on my feedback and will resolve these minor issues as they have more WWOOFers. Overall I had a very positive and educational experience. I learnt a lot about organic farming and how an environmentally conscious farm can be beneficial to the natural world. I learnt about wildlife and garden management from Catherine and Shelley the gardeners. There are good walks and proper pubs nearby too!
