Hello WWOOFers I am a 76 YO Farmer and retired Tallship Captain, or Mate as required with an unblemished career at sea and with scouts until retirement, working with young people world wide.
I live on an organically managed farm.
I have a good relationship with my horse owners and neighbours and we work well together.
2 bathrooms and choice of bedrooms.
Coastal town of Newquay 17 miles (1/2 hr by car) Carmarthen 15 miles
February: hedge laying, tree planting.
March: lambing, whitewash walls on stone buildings
April: gardening, lamb care
May: preparing fields for big bale hayledge, gardening, checking saplings in woodland
June: Feeding sheep and lambs, dagging, treating sheep against Fly strike, hoof trimming, weeding, painting
July: Sheering sheep, feeding sheep,Hayledge made by neighbour. Weeding
August: Sorting lambs for pedigree sale,Harvest in garden, fruit bushes, polytunnel, vegetables. Muck spread by neighbour
Sept: hedge laying, start logging fallen and dead wood.
Oct: Hedge trimming part by neighbour part by me
Nov: logging, checking saplings
Dec: logging
Jan: winter tasks, gutters, cutting back brambles.
Breakfast: oats, bought cereals, toast , tea/coffee
Lunch : soup, sandwiches, cold meat and salad
Dinner: cooked meal, sweet/pudding
Not much time, but I take my 10YO son Fishing, shooting, dingy, sailing, walking.
We have solar heating and Solar PV panels, a small wind turbine, a ground source heat pump and wood burning stoves.
