It was an absolute pleasure to stay with Nicky and Graham, especially for our first WWOOFing experience! From the start they were nothing but hospitable and eager to share their knowledge, so we never felt like we didn't know what was going on. The work was a mix of clearing beds, planting potatoes, weeding, etc., and thanks to their clear instructions and regular check-ins, it was always manageable. We were encouraged to take breaks if things got too strenuous and always had time to stop for tea and cake, or if you're lucky, dandelion coffee! Alongside learning from the farm, they also invited us into their community. On the very first day, we hopped into their canoes to help set up a maypole at the local pub, which is definitely something we'll remember. The pub itself is great too, with live folk music, storytelling, and trivia all happening there. Working only five hours a day left us with plenty of time for other activities. The local area itself featured beautiful walks, and Beccles and Norwich were well worth visiting. The weather was warm, the food was delicious and almost all homegrown, and Nicky and Graham never missed an opportunity to teach us something new. Thank you so much for your hospitality and for inviting two strangers into your lives! We highly recommend The Old Hall for any and all WWOOFers.

I had a wonderful week with Nicky and Graham at the Old Hall learning about self-sufficiency and organic fruit, veg, and pulse production and processing. Nicky and Graham are kind, generous, welcoming and interesting hosts, and we had lots of good conversations both about our days' work, and wider topics. The work was physical but never too strenuous, and Nicky and Graham were very encouraging of my taking breaks particularly given how hot it was! I learnt a lot about growing techniques and pulses in particular (an especial interest of mine), and they gave clear instructions on how to do tasks and were very patient with my questions. I really appreciated how much I was involved in their lives, meeting friends, family, and visiting their much-loved local pub, and how they encouraged me to swim as much as I wanted in the nearby river. My room was very cool and comfortable, and the food was delicious - and all homegrown! I would strongly recommend WWOOFing here. Thank you for everything Nicky and Graham, and let me know how the sauerkraut tastes!

I had a wonderful time at Graham and Nicky's. They made me feel very welcome and were happy to share all their knowledge about fruit and vegetable growing and preservation. The weather was very hot, so Graham and Nicky made sure there was plenty of time for a break at midday, and swimming in the nearby river was definitely a highlight! The work was varied, including planting, weeding and harvesting fruit and vegetables. The surrounding area is a beautiful place to explore, I highly recommend The Old Hall to wwoofers who are interested in self sufficiency and food production.

I strongly recommend the Old Hall as a WWOOFers destination. I was keen but had little knowledge but my hosts were patient and clear in their job requests. I enjoyed the work and came away with knowledge and skills. It’s a beautiful environment and the gardens, orchards and woodland around the house were incredibly beautiful. Nicky and Graham provided warm and comfortable accommodation and great vegetarian food. For beginners and experienced WWOOF enthusiasts, try to come to The Old Hall.

Nicky and Graham have build an incredible homestead with smart rotations and an assortment of food and seed preservations to feed a household for the whole year. They are as close to a truly self-sufficient home as Guillaume or I have ever seen! They were more than happy to share their wealth of knowledge and gave us a variety of different jobs so we could gain a more comprehensive understanding of how a sustainable homestead functions throughout the year. The opportunities to experience the local area and culture were also plentiful, from storytelling at the local pub to folk music by the hearth. Truly an amazing experience and a valuable time learning on how to thrive while living off the land in harmony with the environment. We definitely hope to return at some point to learn more!

I had the most lovely week staying with Nicki and Graham at their Old Hall. They are fantastic, experienced hosts and individuals, who are full of grounded inspiration and commitment to living a sustainable, whole lifestyle. I feel privileged to have been able to stay with them for a week in March; I learnt a lot about myself, as well as growing, planting, and their approach to living in accordance with nature and natural principles. I felt cared for and supported throughout my stay, and included in every way. It was fun to chop wood and plant lots of things, fun work! Food was nurturing, which was almost all seasonal and produced from fruits and vegetables from their own land, we ate things like soups and curries and chutneys, which I still remember. Nicki made very tasty Weetabix cake (more to it than it sounds) and Graham good bread! I would highly recommend a stay at the Old Hall, and I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to. Sorry guys it has taken me a minute to write this! Ari:)
