Croft, vegetable and flower garden. Free range chickens
Highland
We are in the North West Highlands of Scotland and the 22 acre croft situated very close to the Atlantic ocean. I have free range hens and 2 Icelandic horses. Grow fruit, herbs and wide range of vegetables on 2 acres in this windswept location with the aid of natural windbreaks. Aim to use the land without damaging it, to be as self-sufficient as possible. Work very varied. Beautiful beach very close, nice walking country.
Organic methods: I don't use any chemical fertilisers or pesticides on my property.
Certifications: I use all my own compost. It is organic but i have not got the certificate.

This was my first experience WWOOFing, and my time with Ingrid has certainly set the bar high!
Her croft is in an amazing location, with beautiful views across the sea and hills, and a secluded beach nearby, perfect for early morning swims. Ingrid communicates her expectations clearly, and I had the opportunity to try my hand at a variety of tasks over my short stay. The meals were delicious and filling, with plenty of fresh produce from the garden. On my day off, I had the opportunity to walk up Suilven and stay in a bothy, which I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys walking. Ingrid was able to tell me so much about the local area, and I felt very welcomed into the local community.
Thank you so much Ingrid, I will never forget the wonderful time I spent in [Host] (and hopefully life will bring me here again some day)!

Vielen Dank.

We stayed only two short days at Mrs. Ingrid's, as we had to leave spontaneously due to personal circumstances.
The accomodation is, as described, a caravan with a cute little surrounding, but no electricity or (running) water. There is a compost toilet, for showers the bathroom in Ingrid's house can be used.
There is a gas cooker and a kettle, but the (very delicious!) meals are at the house with Ingrid (breakfast at 8.30, lunch at 12.30, dinner at 6). The work day starts at 9, there is a coffee break at 10.30 and a longer break after lunch, from 1 - 2, then the work day continues until 4. The tasks ar a variety of garden-related things, we did some weeding, lawn mowing, fence painting and small repairs.
As described in the other comments, the landscape, especially the beaches, is extremely beautiful. There is a small, expensive shop at the campsite that sells essentials, as well as wifi and a fish and chips shop. Otherwise it is a remote place that feels a little outer-wordly (so we would only recommend it to people who are looking for that). There are no bikes, so except if people come with their own car, the radius for activities is limited (but hitchhiking in the highlands works very well, too).

Remenbering my stay at Ingrids Croft in Achmelvich there are a plenty of nice and great memories. The place with the huge garden and Ingrids cosy log-house, the stillness while sleeping in the caravan, the coastal landscape and the sea, and all the lovely people who I met when I ve been there.
My tasks were various. All kind of work which is necessary in the vegetable patchs and for the berries, wood sawing, caring for a clean hen house and paddock, composting. Sometimes I worked for my own, another time I v got help from Ingrid´s friends. I admired the high quality of the soil that comes as a result of Ingrid`s composting over many years and how it guarantees the beauty of all her flowers and her delicious vegetables growing at the croft. Let alone how she used them to compose a yummy meal. A lot of things I enjoyed…
Thanks also to Ingrids hospitality, her good care not to work too much, having enough breaks and posibilities for strolling around to “conquer” this amazing landscape and nature, the interesting talks between us about what this world really needs and what is completely unneccessary.
Hope to come again

Gabi was a pleasure to have stay and wwoof in 2024. This was her second visit to my farm and she was once again a hard working, companionable and an all round great wwoofer. Gabi can turn her hand to any task and is an easy and pleasant person to have around. I can't recommend Gabi highly enough and she is always welcome back.

Walking on the path to get to Ingrid's farm was like entering fairy tall ! I had a fantastic time (and weather !) working there. Ingrid's gardens are absolutly perfect and looked after like treasures , flowers and vegetables. I've learned a lot about seeds, compost and the balance to work on to get a life out of the ground. I've enjoyed taking part of the whole life in Achmelvich and Lochinver. Beautiful landscapes and walks around the area. Thanks a lot for everything. Elsa

I really enjoyed my time with Ingrid; she could not have been more welcoming or accommodating. Ingrid made sure that the work was varied each day, I don't think I spend more than an hour and a half on any task. Ingrid's property is very peaceful with a mix of flower and veg gardens. Achmelvich itself is amazing with two white sand turquoise water beaches a few hundred meters from the property. There are also a lot of amazing places to see within a 2-3 round trip walk.
