Hosts since 2003, we are a mature couple with family in the area. Our home is 10 minutes’ walk from a sandy inlet and beach with views across the Dornoch Firth to the Sutherland hills. We welcome visitors between March and October each year. We offer space to UK WWOOFers and Scotland in particular, and if you come from overseas we prefer offering places to those who have not flown. We look forward to meeting yet more lovely folk. We will enjoy spending some of the time with you in the garden, but sometimes we'll leave you unsupervised so we can get on with other work. We take some beginners, but also need some guests with more experience. Preferred length of visit 2 weeks.
On our 2 acre woodland garden we grow fruit, vegetables, herbs and native trees, creating a nature-friendly environment. Over the last 30 years we have rejuvenated the neglected land, including drainage, walling and fencing. Our aim is to become as self-sufficient as possible in food given the limitations of a cool climate. A polytunnel now extends our season, plus a small greenhouse. We have 2 cats and 5 hens. Our philosophy is based on respect for nature, conserving resources, 'soil, soul and society', love and fun. We also make bread, wine and preserves, and enjoy listening to music and playing games.
We welcome all ages, nationalities and experience, but prefer folk with a good understanding of English. The main thing is to be genuinely interested in organic growing and alternative lifestyles, willing to muck in and try new things and have fun. We hope you will be open to experiencing a different way of life. We always allow time for socialising, sharing meals and philosophical discussions!
Accommodation is in a small caravan, which can sleep 2 and is for your private use. It has a wood burning stove. All meals are shared in the house and you are welcome to join us for socialising if you wish.
There is a composting toilet built in 2010, which is next to WWOOF caravan for your use. There is limited shower use in the house. This is partly due to the cost of electricity, a small septic tank and to save water. We also prefer you to use biodegradable soaps and toiletries. We’re hoping to add simple outdoor shower facility soon, so anyone with plumbing skills would be especially welcome!
Our main income from is self-employed gardening, woodcraft and writing.
There are some rather old bicycles available for you to borrow to explore the local area (let us know in advance and we'll make sure they are serviced and useable).
Nearest shops, bus & train - Tain 6 miles.
Whist we recognise the use of mobile devices is important to keep in touch with family and friends, we respectfully ask that they are not used when gardening or during shared meals. We have found this increases the time we get to know you and connects people to the earth and nature more effectively in the moment. Slow wi-fi is available in the house.
Organic methods: We are a woodland garden with totally organic produce and no chemicals used for at least 30 years. This is as closed a loop as we can make it, with as much as possible used on site or from very close by where possible.
Current projects: finishing a cabin build, cultivating and harvesting fruit and vegetables, tree care, garden maintenance, random activities and weeding (always!).

Had a lovely couple of weeks at Fuggo and Geoff's beautiful place. I learned so much from these folk, it was a privilege to have spent time working in their garden with them. Cannot recommend them enough!

My friend and I stayed at Geoff and Fuggos beautiful home and garden for 2 weeks and it was truly life changing!! They are such welcoming, accommodating and loving individuals, we felt like family from the first night. The work we did varied from day to day, from weeding to sawing wood to assisting them in making homemade wine and sauerkraut it was never a dull moment!! We learned so much and had fun doing it. The property and surrounding areas are just breathtaking, highly suggest going to portmahomack and the beach on weekends or after work :) this was my first experience wwoofing and I’m sure it will be hard to top it!! Thank you Geoff and Fuggo ❤️

I had a wonderful and heart warming time with Fuggo and Geoff in their beautiful garden. They created a wonderful oasis full of trees and plants and live harmony with nature. I really enjoyed to learn more about compost methods and gardening techniques. I also enjoyed having dinner together, talking, reading, playing games and watching films. Thanks for this wonderful experience :)

Heartwarming people !
We were welcomed into their home and felt at ease from the moment we arrived.
We had conversations of all kinds and lots of laughter, enjoyable work and quality time with Fuggo and Geoff. The working hours were very convenient (9 to 4), and the caravan was very comfy with lots of books and blankets. We spent most of our free time going on walks by the beach and reading, crocheting and making music. We thank our hosts for their hospitality and warmth towards us, and we strongly advise anyone in need of nature, quiet and wonderfull people to go for it !
Thank you again for the lovely time we had.

Fuggo and Geoff are kind, thoughtful and generous. They welcome you into their woodland home with open arms, cosy fires and lots of chats, conversations and laughter. We loved staying in the caravan surrounded by the trees Fuggo and Geoff have planted over the past 30 years and getting to know the many hidden spots of the land they have so lovingly regenerated. We were really grateful to learn more about organic composting including smelly compost teas, sheep manure and food waste, as well as plant, tree, egg, insect & bird identification. They have a book for everything, so there's endless learning and ideas exchanges to be had. Also lots of music of many different genres, including their own lovely musical family performances, and films and card games galore.
They were very open and flexible to letting us use our imagination and take the initiative building stiles and gates out of the various wood cut-offs around the garden. We were glad to have a combination of creative and physical activities, with plenty of weeding of nettles, cow parsley and ground elder. We look forward to coming back during harvest time in the future - the garden is a food forest oasis of plums, cherries, apples, brassicas, beans, peas, rhubarb, lettuce and more.
Thank you Fuggo and Geoff for your patience with English > Spanish translation and for being so open to multilingual living! Hasta pronto y muchas gracias :)

I spent two amazing weeks with fuggo and geoff. They built a magical place and I felt welcomed from the first minute on. I really enjoyed the work in the garden and being able to learn from their amazing knowledge about all of knowledge trees and plants are amazing. Thank you for all the delicious meals and the homemade wine, I loved it so much. I loved to play cards, watch movies and just have talks in the evenings. It was magical to just walk around the trees and to the beach. I really enjoyed every second and hope to come back in the future :)
