Small co-housing group of 4-6 adults, living consciously together, sharing our (various) spiritual, political and social values. Located in the countryside close to Findhorn, in the North of Scotland. There is a vibrant alternative population in the area, attracted by the Findhorn Ecovillage, (formally Findhorn Foundation), to which we are loosely affiliated, and provides much of interest. Mainly self-sufficient in organic fruit and vegetables, we manage around 2 acres of land, including a large poly-tunnel, large vegetable growing areas, and many flower beds. We eat together 2 evenings a week, sharing the cooking. Accommodation is in a small caravan in the garden, with access to a shower and toilet in the communal area. We only have accommodation and work for one WWOOFer at a time. The work is mainly in our garden, but could also include work in other gardens, a woodland, cooking, building, cleaning or general maintenance. We do provide Rubber boots and outdoor jackets and overalls for medium sizes. Organic methods: A whole mix of organic, pemaculture and intuitive methods gleaned from thirty plus years of gardening and forestry work. Certifications: We only sell a small amount of produce surplus to our needs, so no need to be certified. Internet access available

I stayed at [Host] for 3 months this summer and would absolutely recommend a wwoofing experience here. All four hosts were so welcoming and generous with their time, knowledge, and everything else. Hugh, the gardener, was patient and encouraging which helped me as a novice gardener and I learnt a lot from him while there. Because of the time of year the work was mainly weeding, mowing, and lots of harvesting the wonderful fruit and veg. There was lots of variety in the tasks- I learnt how to make potting compost and helped with some sowing and planting. The accommodation was a comfy caravan in the garden, a nice little space of your own. Kitchen and bathroom are shared with the lodgers who live on the property. The food was great, being able to pick from the garden felt so healthy. I was invited to share a meal with the 4 hosts twice a week, and had plenty of supplies for the other days. The highlights for me though were getting to know each of the hosts and learning something different from each of them. I felt held and cared for while exploring a new chapter in my life, and am so thankful for the experience.

I stayed with Hugh, Janet, and Stephen for about two weeks. This is a historic WWOOF host place, and I felt very honored to help there. During my stay, I worked on gardening and farm tasks, especially learning how to grow and plant many different kinds of vegetables. The garden felt like a salad bar to me, and I enjoyed eating fresh vegetables every day. I stayed in a caravan, which was my first experience, but it was warm and comfortable with a fireplace. Everyone was truly kind, and I had a very heartwarming time there. I would love to come back again someday. Thank you very much!

I spent one week at Woodhead and can highly recommend it. Everyone was very kind and made sure I felt welcome all the time. The hosts have long experience with communal living and hosting volunteers, so everything was really well organized. Working in the garden was always fun, Hugh has lots of experience and clearly enjoys what he is doing. Tasks included weeding, planting, lawn mowing or wood chopping and were always varied throughout the day. In the afternoon and during the weekend, I had plenty of time to explore the lovely region. Thanks to the provided bike it was easy to get around, but I was also taken to some nice spots by car. I also enjoyed my evenings in the cosy caravan or cooking and eating in the communal kitchen, where I would often meet someone to chat with. Besides food from the garden, there was a large variety of groceries already available when I arrived and I was frequently asked if I wanted anything else from the shop. We also had two shared dinners with delicious food and interesting conversations. I wish I could have stayed longer than a week, but I am grateful that short stay WWOOFers are also welcome at Woodhead. This was my first time WWOOFing, but it certainly got me hooked and I would like to come back to this special place in the future.

I spent almost three weeks at [Host] and had an amazing time. As my first WWOOFing experience, I honestly feel like I chose the best place to start. If I had to do it again, I would definitely come back! Everyone was very kind, welcoming, and always ready to help, so I felt comfortable from the beginning. The work was enjoyable and varied. Hugh was very patient and taught me a lot. I had the chance to do different tasks such as weeding, planting, digging, mowing, and other daily jobs, which made the experience really enjoyable and nice to be part of. There was also enough free time to relax or explore the beautiful surrounding area, and having access to a bike made it even easier to discover the nearby places. The caravan was cosy and comfortable, and I really enjoyed staying there. Knitting while looking out at the garden, with the trees beginning to blossom, was especially lovely. Everyone was thoughtful and helpful, and always happy to give you a lift if you needed one. I would highly recommend [Host] to anyone looking for a genuine, friendly, and enriching WWOOFing experience.

Hello everyone, I spend three weeks at [Host] and had a wonderful time. It was my first Wwoofing experience and I couldn’t have wished for a better one. The garden with all it‘s ripe vegetables and fruits, the many lovely conversations and walks by the sea or in the woods, the delicious suppers together, riding the bike to the Findhorn Bay, spending time in the cosy caravan in the garden surrounded by birds and plants and getting to know a completely new everyday life in a community. The tasks were varied, exciting and very manageable for me. Hugh and Stephen were always explaining everything and you’ll be able to learn a lot. The use of the bike was brillant to explore the surroundings, you are able to cook delicious meals with the things from the garden in the spacious communal kitchen and have a chat when you meet someone. Everyone were really welcoming, created a heartwarming atmosphere and always included me to come along. All of this made my time at [Host] so special, so unique, so wonderful. I will miss this place and the lovely people very much. Thank you all for welcoming me into your home and for the educational and beautiful time I had with you. I would definitely recommend a visit here.
