Beautiful country house set in 30 acres of woodland and pasture. We have a large walled garden which is part formal garden and part vegetable garden. We grow all our own fruit and veg during the summer. We try to use organic methods of growing when we can and tend our garden using very traditional methods. We are only about 3/4 of a mile from the coastal village of Hopeman which is an easy walk from the house. We need enthusiastic helpers to help us keep our wonderful garden under control. Everything from weeding, planting, grass cutting, strimming, pruning, picking fruit and vegetables, some woodland work, and general help are needed, as is a good sense of humour! We also have a section of our stone wall needing to be re built so if you have wall building skills, we need you! Occasional care of chickens and dogs required. Wwoofer’s will live in the house as part of the family and we would like people who are happy to get involved in the kitchen! We prefer couples or friends who are wwoofing together but single Wwoofers are also welcome. Wwoofer’s live in the house and have their own bedrooms and a bathroom shared with other Wwoofer’s. There is a small sitting room for your own use with an open fire and a television. All food is provided and lunch is eaten together. Wwoofer’s tend to cook their own evening meal. Organic methods: Traditional methods using manure, home made compost etc in our vegetable beds. Certifications: Biological Internet access available

This was our first wwoof experience and we had such an amazing time! Lucy and Roddy's house is beautiful, the bedroom was very cosy and we even had our own private living room just for wwoofers. The garden was huge and we completed a variety of tasks throughout our stay including harvesting vegetables, weeding, collecting eggs and learning about the bees. There was a great balance between working in the garden and exploring the local area/beach in our free time too. Lucy and Roddy were so kind, welcoming and accommodating of dietary requirements, and it was so lovely to spend time with them (and their dogs!) during our stay - we could not recommend them more! Thank you so much for a brilliant time and we would love to visit again in the future.

I had an absolutely wonderful week at [Host] with Lucy and Roddy. This was my first woofing experience and I can't wait to go and do it again. The food was great, the house and gardens made for a wonderful break from the city, and to have the beach so close by was lovely in the evenings. Both Lucy and Roddy were patient, helpful and full of great conversation. Couldn't recommend it more!

Stayed with Lucy & Roddie from 12th of Nov - 22nd Nov and it was an incredible stay! Lucy & Roddie were wonderful hosts & made us feel very welcome & comfortable straight away. Our time was mainly either spent in the garden with Lucy (clearing vegetation, planting bulbs, shifting compost) or organizing/splitting wood with Roddie - both gave very clear instructions & very happy to help if we needed it. Provided us with food from our shopping list for evening meals & all together lunch meals were really yummy! Wonderful home, hosts & dogs and would definitely recommend!!

I spent two weeks at [Host] with Lucy and Roddy, and the experience was fantastic. Lucy and Roddy are excellent hosts who freely welcome you into their home with kindness and enthusiasm, and I was made to feel so comfortable. Tasks were varied, including regular picking (beans, courgettes, berries etc), planting, weeding, mowing and deadheading. The house and garden are both beautiful, and nearby Hopeman has a pretty beach, shops and pubs for evenings and weekends. There are also great places to walk and explore. Food is provided for breakfast, and lunch was always a delicious homemade spread of bread, pesto, hummus, sauerkraut and more. I would highly recommend a stay here!

This was my first wwoofing experience and I couldn’t have asked for a better one. The property (both gardens and house) is absolutely wonderful, the area is gorgeous and right by the sea, and the work is versatile. More than that though Lucy and Roddy are just some of the kindest people I’ve ever met. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and included, they’re always up for a nice chat and sharing anecdotes, and I loved that we got to spend a lot of time with them. Breakfast and dinner we wwoofers cooked for ourselves but Lucy was good to provide us anything we needed that we couldn’t find in the garden. Lunch we had all of us together and it was always the most gorgeous spread. Scotland being Scotland means that the garden work was planned around the weather. On dry days we worked outside in the gardens doing weeding, edge cutting, compost turning, tomato cutting and stringing, bean stringing, some sowing, and a lot of vegetable picking of all kinds. When we had the odd bit of rain we’d do indoor tasks like log splitting, bean/pea podding and baking courgette cake in an attempt to thin out the mountain of courgettes from the garden. Lucy was very flexible and let us leave early on a weekend trip, and was always happy to drive us to the bus station or offer up suggestions for local activities. Lucy, Roddy and their two brilliant dogs are wonderful and I would love to come back. I couldn’t recommend them more!
