ACCOMMODATION & SUBSISTENCE
Accommodation is provided in our farmhouse where you will be living communally with other WWOOF guests from across the world for the duration of your visit. The house sleeps a maximum of ten people. There are 5 bedrooms, 2 of which are shared dormitories. There is a communal kitchen equipped with a washing machine, a cooker and a rayburn; there is a communal lounge with a log burner, TV and DVDs; internet access and a communal bathroom with hot shower. There are also three compost toilets elsewhere on site. As a working farmhouse in a rural area it is clean and functional but it is old and does need looking after.
We provide your utilities and all your food basics (except for meat, fish, alcohol and luxury items which you are welcome to buy for yourself), with most of the fresh veg and eggs produced here on the farm. If you have any dietary requirements, or anything that may affect your visit to our farm, please let us know before arrival so we can make reasonable adjustments for you in advance.
The provision of temporary accommodation whilst you are visiting us does not constitute a tenancy and we may ask you to leave at any time.
We are sorry but we are not able to host WWOOFers under the age of 18.
EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES
We are a hardworking, charitable organisation, operating all year round. One of our three key aims is to bring people together for shared learning about sustainable food and sustainable living. We can offer you experiential learning as part of a varied team in the following farm activities:
- chicken care - letting the chickens out at 8am and shutting them back in at dusk, collecting their eggs and providing the hens with feed and water - on-farm, educational training in these tasks will be provided
- seasonal horticultural activities - this can be out in the fields, inside polytunnels, and in the packing shed. On-farm training in specific tasks such as sowing, potting on, planting out, watering, temperature control, managing pests and diseases, structural support, harvesting, packing and ground clearance, will all be provided
- community engagement - we have communally prepared lunches daily and twice-weekly we are joined by community volunteers for lunch. In Spring (Sunday before Easter weekend) and at Harvest time (first Sunday in October) we hold Open Days with stalls, games, talks, tours and educational workshops. In Summer (July) and Winter (December) we hold informal social events for everyone involved at the farm and throughout he year we arrange visits, courses and seasonal workshops.
DURATION OF STAY
Most people choose to visit us for 1-3 months depending on their VISAs but the usual minimum stay is 2 weeks. Activities are offered from 9am-5pm, five consecutive days a week. On Fridays farm activities start and finish one hour earlier (8-4) to harvest salad for our veg boxes. We all take a 30 minute break every morning and a 1 hour break for a communal lunch daily. This social time for intergenerational connection and cultural exchange is an important element of wellbeing and shared learning which previous WWOOF guests have valued greatly, particularly on our busiest community volunteer days (Tuesdays and Thursdays).
Please note that we are unable to sponsor visas.
REASONABLE EXPECTATIONS
We email each wwoofer a copy of our farm guidelines when they confirm a booking and you will need to demonstrate that you have an appropriate VISA. Please read these carefully and if you have any questions please feel free to ask and we will do our best to answer.
ORGANIC METHODS
Crop rotation, encouraging natural predators, some no-dig areas, mulching, composting, mechanical/hand weeding.

Had a wonderful time at the farm, the people are extremely friendly and helpful. It doesn’t take long to settle in at all.
Lots to learn and I loved my time there. It’s also one of the most beautiful parts of the country I’ve seen! I can’t recommend this lovely farm enough!

So many wonderful things have already been said about this lovely farm. My contribution is for the time of year. My wife and I had the privilege to stay at this farm for the last two weeks of November. It was cold for us wee Californians, but really not so bad. The farm had all the clothes we needed to stay dry and warm while volunteering. So we didn’t have to muddy our own gear unless we wanted to.
The work during this time of year was varied. Chicken care, digging potatoes, Jerusalem artichokes, leeks, picking kale, chard, salad, planting in the poly tunnels, weeding, projects, etc. The farm runs a CSA box for their community.
There are regular volunteers from the community as well as WWOOFers. One regular volunteer was very kind to welcome us into their home on our day off and treat us like family, sharing a lovely meal and a perfect afternoon.
When we were at the farm, the farmhouse was filled with other WWOOFers from all over, and we made ourselves a wonderful community or we like to say a farmhouse family!
We had the privilege to attend a yearly board meeting and meet some of the regulars who make this place run. It is clear that this community loves this farm and wants to see it thrive. So many projects, work, and passion goes into making it a reality.
This was our first WWOOFing experience, and I couldn’t recommend it more.

I spent one month on this farm, and it has been extremely insightful and healing for me. I came to the farm in a really turmoil phase of my life, and the communal living, slow pace of life, structure, good food, and learning opportunities have given me the chance to relax a bit and inspire me for new directions in my life. After the experience, I now consider pursuing a career in sustainable agriculture as well as trying to find a similar communal living arrangement. Furthermore, the local community is lovely, and it has been so inspirational to hear all of their stories and learn from them.
I do recommend everyone looking for a sustainable agriculture, community-building, and learning experience to stay on this farm.

My 3-week woofing stay was a very enriching experience. The farm itself was beautifully located, with breathtaking nature and a peaceful, welcoming atmosphere. The work was varied and exciting, and I learned a lot about growing plants and keeping chickens. I found the practical insights into sustainable agriculture particularly interesting.
Another highlight was the great community on the farm. The people were very warm and open. It was great to work with volunteers from the local area and from many different countries and to exchange ideas about different cultures and perspectives.
Overall, my Woofing stay was a very valuable experience, both in terms of the practical skills I learned and the interpersonal contacts I made. I can only recommend it to anyone who is interested in sustainable agriculture and wants to experience a new, inspiring community at the same time.
I'd love to come back!

I spent three wonderful weeks at [Host]. The farm is beautiful, with structured and varied workdays. As a wwoofer, you live in the farmhouse with fellow volunteers which is well stocked with food from the farm and anything you wish for. The communal living is a huge part of what makes [Host] so special, and I greatly enjoyed living, cooking and hanging out with all the wwoofers there. Tasks for me included picking (tomatoes, courgettes, kale, salad, beans), weeding, and the full process of preparing an overgrown bed for planting. Volunteers take turns to prepare lunches and these are always taken communally, including with local volunteers. For evenings and days off, St Just is pretty and has many social events in summer, Cape Cornwall and Sennen are beautiful, and Land's End is close as well. Hugh and the rest of the team running the farm are kind, generous with their knowledge and very welcoming. I would highly recommend [Host] to anyone considering a visit here!

We will always have great memories of [Host] Farm: The people are very nice, the work is varied and the farm is ideally located for trips.
What makes the farm special are the Volunteer Days, on which volunteers from the area help out, and the shared, intergenerational commitment to a good cause.
Hugh and the staff are very kind. Hugh explains the tasks in detail and is always available to answer questions.
During our stay we harvested a variety of vegetables, prepared veg boxes, looked after the chickens, weeded, cooked and even worked in the farm store twice.
It was very difficult for us to leave the farm after two and a half weeks, as we felt very much at home there and had grown fond of both the people and the farm.
A big thank you to [Host] Farm for making this wonderful and educational time possible!
