House and garden

We are taking steps for a low-impact lifestyle. We are insulating our house and growing vegetables. We are also trying to establish a forest garden and getting our old watermill going again. Main tasks would be tree planting, maintaining tree guards and mulchmats, vegetable gardening, digging, chopping up firewood and maybe help in the house. We have no car but are happy to meet WWOOFers at the local bus stop and take luggage.
School holdays are our preferred time.
The mill stream runs next to the house in a quiet, sheltered, wooded spot. Very cold in winter, note we get about on bikes in the snow, but sometimes warm in summer. If you are very lucky you might see red squirrels, woodpeckers, wildcat and deer from the house. Borrow one our many and varied bikes and explore the rolling countryside. 9 miles from the coast where you can go surfing of you have a thick enough wetsuit. Room to park live-in vehicles. No midges.
People with lime mortar pointing skills very welcome, and keen learners too.

Organic methods: Food forest- we are experimenting with various perrennials including: bladder nuts, korean pine nuts, swiss stone pine nuts , heart nut, hazels , local variety apple grafting, siberian pea shrub.
