I had a wonderful experience staying with Richard and Rosalind. They made me feel welcome from day one and created a very positive working environment. I worked on a wide variety of tasks, including clearing branches after storm Amy, planting roses, shrubs and bulbs, weeding, relocating and planting flowers, and helping prepare the marquee, cottages and palace ruins for weddings and events. I also assisted with meal preparation during event weekends, including the well-known apple sauce! I really appreciated the trust they gave me and the clear explanations for each task. I learned a lot, both in practical skills and in confidence. The work was rewarding, diverse and well-organized, and I always felt supported. Outside of work, they included me in family moments, which made the experience even more special. I’m leaving with only positive memories, and I would be happy to come back. Thank you for everything!

I had a wonderful month of May at Ballyscullion Park and can highly recommend this place. There was a lot to do, many different tasks. Helping in the large garden, with the wedding preparations and in the castle ruins were the order of the day. With the dogs I was every day several times on the large grounds. And am in love with dog and Ireland. It was a magical time and I think back to it often. The bluebells and wild garlic were blooming in the woods. The Titanic museum is highly recommended, as is the whole city. A day in Derby is also a great day out. I would repeat everything the same way.

I had a great time at Ballyscullion Park! Rosalind, Richard, George and the whole family are very pleasant and generous persons. The manor house and the huge garden are really unique and beautifully maintained - and also the surroundings with the small village and the lake are picturesque. The work was very varied, well structured and pleasantly planned. Everything was explained in detail and understandable. We had a lot of fun working together as a team, but were also invited to barbecues and boat trips - definitely a highly recommended host.

I couldn’t recommend Ballyscullian more Along with being a beautifull place to volunteer, the estate is steeped in history. From woodland, an ever changing walled garden to the palace ruin. There are plenty of tasks to do and lots of things to learn about from running an estate, hosting weddings and tending to the stunning gardens. Your hosts couldn’t be more welcoming and kind. They are a wealth of local knowledge and history. Every one who works with the family are lovely people, any questions just ask away. The more you give on the more you will get out of your stay at Ballyscullian. The food was great and the accommodation was spot on. And a great base to explore the north east coast as well as Belfast and Derry. I loved my two and a bit months there getting the grounds ready for spring.

It was truly an exciting volunteering experience at Ballyscullion Park. There was a diverse range of work; gardening, wedding preparations and helping at hospitality events. The family is very respectful and caring ensuring that I was comfortable during my stay. The varying work leaves no room for monotony and gives everyday a new sense of anticipation. The garden is picturesque and the accommodation is comfortable for a rest. Give your best as a WWOOFer and you’ll have a meaningful stay.

I had a wonderful 5 weeks at Ballyscullion Park. The family is very hospitable and kind. Such a blessed time I had working in the gardens. The hosts make exciting dinner conversations and share their views respectfully. This was my first WWOOFing experience and my stay at Ballyscullion Park exceeded my expectations. The hosts along with their son George ensured that I was well taken care of as I adjusted to the cold temperatures there (I live in the Caribbean). My accommodation was comfortable and homely. The garden work was simple with weeding, raking and planting. Additional less simple jobs were not difficult and supervised when required. I was well fed and the food was tasty. The gardens are beautiful and their two dogs are good company while working. The hosts were flexible with time when I left to visit friends and attend church. I really appreciated their understanding and giving me much freedom. The house made me feel how the Victorian era life was like. I met some of their guests who visited and was treated with much respect and hospitality. Leaving was very sad for me as I didn't want to go back home across the Atlantic. I would advise any WWOOFer to go the extra mile if staying here not out of duty but out of honour towards this caring family. Jonathan Mohan Trinidad
