Family home and garden - rural, smallholding, market garden, orchard, farm
Ceredigion
We have a small mixed organic farm with chickens, sheep, vegetables and apples. We are passionate about farming in balance with nature while providing health giving produce for the local community. We work with permaculture, no dig, biodynamic and organic principles. We invite you for an immersive learning experience at our farm.
We are looking for someone who is independent. We ask that we have privacy in our house to have our own family time.
It is important that you have an interest and enthusiasm for organic farming. You must be able to communicate well in English, have plenty of energy, and a positive attitude. WWOOFers can participate in activities such as sorting eggs, packing salad, weeding, sowing, planting and harvesting.
Accommodation is in a barn or a caravan. There is a gas cooker, wood burner, electricity, toilet and hot shower. self catering.
We live in a rural location, but only two miles from Newcastle Emlyn, and 8 miles from the sea.
We deliver fruit, eggs and vegetables to local shops and cafes 3 times a week.
We do love to meet all sorts of people from around the world and will be interested to spend time with you during the day.
We will provide food for you to cook, including produce from the farm and we require you to cook for yourself. We ask you to keep your accommodation clean, and let us know if you have any problems. There is internet in the barn
From Newcastle Emlyn there are regular buses to the bigger towns of Cardigan and Carmarthen. Pembrokeshire coast national park is to the south and Snowdonia national park is to the north. We are not close to any big cities.
We have two boys -16 and 11 years, and find that hosting WWOOFers is an enriching experience for the family and the farm too.
WWOOFers are welcome at any time of year. We normally invite you to stay for around 3 weeks at a time.

Trains run to Carmarthen or Aberystwyth, but you have to get a bus to Newcastle Emlyn, which is 2 miles from our farm.

June 2026
I stayed at CwmCou Organics for a little over three weeks and had a wonderful time. I stayed in mid May - early June which meant there was lots of interesting work to do getting the polytunnels ready and planting summer crop like peppers tomatoes lettuces etc. Working with Al was always a joy. Not only is he a very interesting guy to talk with, but has a lot of experience in organic farming. I learned a lot from him.
Lucy, Al and their family are very sweet and welcoming people. They were very accommodating and always made sure I had what I needed. They are very well traveled. And hearing about their travel experiences was always so interesting as well. Lucy also helped give ideas and suggestions of things going on in the area to get involved in during the weekends.
The location itself is very beautiful surrounded by idilic Welsh hills and close to the charming town of newcastle emlyn.
I would recommend this wwoof for anyone and hope to come back someday.

I spent three unforgettable weeks on this farm! Between collecting eggs and feeding the chickens, weeding, planting and harvesting a wide variety of vegetables, I wasn't bored for a second, and I still had time to explore the area around the farm! I even had the chance to venture a little further afield to Snowdonia National Park and discover the many beaches in the area! Thank you to the whole family, who were very welcoming, very patient, and explained everything about how their farm works! I can only recommend spending some time on this farm and discovering Wales!

Spent 2 amazing weeks at Cwmcou and absolutely loved the experience. Al and Lucy are wonderful people and made us feel comfortable from the start and ensured we had everything we needed. We stayed in the converted barn that we found very cosy, comfortable, and generously stocked with food. It was a special experience for us to work on a farm with market garden, orchards, and chickens. Even though we were there during the quiet season we still felt that we learned a lot about this farming. Their style of farming is very much in harmony with nature and we enjoyed this as well as being surrounded by beautiful views and birdsong. The supply of fresh greens and knowing where they came from was a bonus!
We spent our time caring for the chickens, collecting and packing eggs and veggies, preparing veggie beds, sowing seeds, weeding, some painting jobs and repair work etc. The jobs were varied and enjoyable and Al and Lucy were willing to teach us anything we wished to know.
We enjoyed our times spent around the family during the day and Lucy made sure we had opportunities to explore the surrounded areas if we wanted. We had great chats and we will definitely miss our time spent there. We would highly recommend WWOOFing here if you want to learn about operating a market garden, orchard, or chicken farm and would like to experience the beauty of western Wales.

Al and Lucy made me feel really welcome and at-home right from day one of a whole month spent Wwoofing with them this Summer.
I can't believe how much I learnt in just 4 weeks! If you're interested in growing veggies and fruit this is THE place to come Wwoofing!
I had a go at everything from sowing seeds to planting out to harvesting and learnt so much about how to care for the plants, like when to pick veg to encourage the plant to keep producing and companion planting.
I also got to learn about keeping chickens and I collected the eggs every day which I really enjoyed.
I had two gorgous caravans for my living space and access to all the fresh veg I could eat and any additional groceries I needed all provided for me.
Al and Lucy were really kind and considerate hosts and really look out for your well-being. They are all-round lovely people who I very much enjoyed getting to know - I'll miss you guys loads and hope to come back to visit!

My partner and I stayed with Al and Lucy for about 2 weeks and had a great time! This is an amazing place to go if you are interested in vegetable farming. The tasks were varied and we were able to learn about sowing, planting, and harvesting. We learned so much from Al and Lucy and really enjoyed our time. There are fun day trips to take to nearby towns and beaches and the family is so helpful, welcoming, and accommodating. My partner and I are still quoting some of the insightful observations from Al while learning how to weed by hand and get in the soil. There is really something special about this place. There is a cozy barn to stay in and plenty of food to cook for yourself. A huge thank you to Al and Lucy and the boys! We would highly recommend this farm. :)

Had a great time at Cwmcou! Al, Lucy and the boys were great and very welcoming. The farm is lovely and I learned a lot from Al and Lucy during the days I stayed there and I now consider them as good friends.
The area around is beautiful with easy access to Pembrokeshire and Snowdonia if you’re driving. Highly recommend it! What are you waiting for?
