We live in a period property, built in 1880. It is in good condition generally but as usual with a property like this, there is constant maintenance. We have a large garden, mature hedging and trees and garden paths. We keep a dog, and cats. I am particularly interested in re-establishing the gardens as due to ill health they have been a bit neglected. I would also like to install some dry stone walls and have particular interest in building a hay bale or cob house at the bottom of the fairy glen in the garden. I would like to then use this as an additional space for others to use as an education centre for the sharing of rural skills and alternative energy workshops. Stonemasonry, carpentry, willowcrafting and so on would be fabulous as well. Current projects: Pond cleaning Building Maintenance Garden clearing and lawn cutting. Fencing Building Work Internet access available

We are on a bus route using Translink or by arrangement, I can collect from the bus or train station. We are situated just off the A6 at Ardmore road, 5 miles from Derry/Londonderry.

Hello Wwoofer, If you are thinking about stopping by Cathrine, I can warmly recommend it to you. This was my first wwoofing experience and in just 2 weeks the decision to come here turned out to be right! There are many small or large garden projects and everyone will find something for themselves with the help of Cathrine where he has fun and can show his ability - whereby you can say that you don't need much experience for most things and you get the hang of it when doing it. ;) Cathrine's family is also very open and welcome and you quickly find a topic of conversation. So you can say that it is definitely worth it as a first Wwoofing experience or even as a further experience. There is a beautiful large garden around the house and a beautiful nature park within walking distance. That's exactly how I can recommend a weekend trip to Belfast because the city certainly has something for everyone! ;)

My time at Catherine‘s was absolutely wonderful! She and her family are amazing hosts who make you feel at home immediately. The work is more than reasonable and varied too, sometimes in the garden sometimes at the house. Derry is a nice town to visit and the surrounding landscape is beautiful for walks. There are some beaches you might want to visit on your days off, it’s really worth it ;) I hope to be back sometime, thank you for this great stay!

I was fortunate enough to spend three weeks with Catherine. I had such an amazing time, the work was fun and so rewarding, not too much but enough to never get bored. I would have stayed longer if I could’ve! Catherine is an amazing host, she was incredibly welcoming and just so lovely and kind. I felt comfortable from the very first day and she would always go out of her way to include me in everything. I will never forget my stay here and I will definitely come back one day! Catherine is one of the kindest and most interesting people I've ever met! What a pleasure it was to stay with her and bond over our mutual love for green cleaning, history documentaries, and cooking/baking. I loved hearing about (and using - like the beautiful bathroom!) all the projects the hardworking and artistic WWOOFers before me worked on as well as plans for the future. In our spare time, Catherine even taught me how to make bread and meringues. If you have a good attitude and are interested in learning, fun stories, and interesting projects, this is the place to be. I absolutely wish I could have stayed longer and will certainly be back if I ever find myself in Northern Ireland again. Loved our time together, and thank you so much, Catherine!
