We are looking for two friends or a couple. We are all booked up for 2025 and now looking at 2026. We only accept two people travelling together as we are very remote and the companionship is important!. There are many varied tasks ; help with sheep, help with lambing in May, clipping sheep in summer , run the house and croft, look after the working dogs and run our volunteer community cafe over the summer months. We joined Wwoof in January 2024 and run a croft with 100 sheep including rare breeds and are in the process of becoming certified organic for sheep production. We work in partnership with neighbours who also have croft land and you may be helping them too! We are in the process of developing a small bit of the croft land to achieve fruit and vegetable and a managed wild flower garden. Our community has recently planted a large native woodland. There's a lot of bracken management required and fence repairing and some drystane dyking .
We have a group of local spinners and knitters with our own wool and you can have a go at spinning!. We are based on the sea shore and have access to a boat and kayaks. We have 4 ponies.
We are 9 miles beyond the neighbouring village where there is a small shop and hotel.
We are therefore in very isolated location. To enjoy this experience , you need to be comfortable with your own company and this is why I ask you please come as a couple or two friends and be willing to stay in our fairly basic caravan (which has electricity and wifi fi) beside the house.
Organic methods: organic composting and pasture management, small croft mainatinance done by hand without chemicals.
Current projects: Sheep production is carried out with high welfare levels. Other projects are developing rough pasture into managed grazing and cultivated plots with an emphasis on maintaining an environment that supports natural wildlife. Ongoing management of a newly planted native wood and general gardening tasks.
