***2026 calendar now fully booked** - - - - - We are a vegan home and sanctuary and prioritise requests from those who support the ethical reasons for following a vegan lifestyle. We are not a good match for those who normally eat animals or things from animals and so we do not accept requests from those 'happy to be vegan during their stay'. Please confirm you are vegan when applying. Thank you for your understanding in advance. This is a fantastic opportunity for a couple or an individual to live in self contained accommodation on a vegan paradise. Wwoofing with us is a less social experience, so suits those wanting peace and space to themselves. Minimum stay two weeks. Our Farm is a 6 acre vegan sanctuary and large vegetable garden, surrounded by arable farmland in all directions. The Fens are known for their huge open skylines and big dark skies, so this is the ideal stay for wwoofers who would like some peace and quiet away from the mad world! Tasks include helping to maintain a 1 acre veg garden with raised beds, polytunnel, greenhouse, no dig and permaculture principles, growing a range of fruits, vegetables and flowers. Sowing, transplanting, preparing, harvesting, weeding, watering etc depending on the season. We are also a sanctuary for around 40 animals; pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, turkeys, peafowl, rabbits plus cats and dogs, this may increase as needed! You will learn how to care for them including washing water bowls, topping up mud wallows, mucking out sleeping areas, poo picking fields and feeding. Confidence around animals is advantageous, but they are a very friendly bunch! We run the UK's only vegan glamping site, you are welcome to learn more about that during your stay. We are looking for capable, self-motivated, pro-active, people that have a healthy amount of logical thinking/common sense! The jobs you’ll be helping with are mostly routine based, and can be a little more solitary, we hope you will enjoy the peace of nature whilst you get stuck into a task, or pop some headphones on and enjoy a podcast and time to yourself as you engage in activities. Most tasks happen in the morning, which really suits those who like to have the afternoon and evening to enjoy other activities. We understand that everybody has their own pace and some people like to push on and get things finished early then enjoy their free time, whilst others like to potter along throughout the day at a slower pace. We ask you to help for around 20-25 hours a week, which will actually take some people less time, and others more! You’ll be helping 5 days out of 7. We have found our laid back approach to 'time' works best for people with a good solid work ethic, so if this is you, we'd love to hear from you. Wwoofing is physical and many jobs are unglamorous and monotonous, but we strive to find things that you enjoy too! There is such satisfaction in a productive day and stepping back to see what a difference you have made. Do expect to be outside in all weather though. Pippa has a full time job alongside running the sanctuary/veg plot/glamping site, working from home as a hot yoga studio owner. You are welcome to attend free classes at the studio which is 25 minutes drive away if you wish, if you have your own transport. The farm is rural and two miles from the nearest village/bus stop. We provide your own self-contained accommodation; a clean and comfortable mobile home/static caravan with double bedroom, kitchen, dining area and lounge. Your linen and towels are provided. It has full electrics, wifi, and is plumbed into the main system with running water, hot shower and flushing toilet. You have access to a washing machine and tumble drier. We will provide groceries for you to eat a healthy vegan wholefood diet, with vegan junk food thrown in occasionally if you're partial! You have a bread machine, a slow cooker, blender and an air fryer too and plenty of recipe inspiration should you need it. If you would like to come and stay for up to a month or please do drop us a message.

To begin with the positives, the private accommodation was good, and we genuinely enjoyed the rewarding work with the animals. However, [...] Communication was the biggest hurdle. The most concerning event was being asked to leave two days early. The host cited our unhappiness but made no attempt to discuss the reasons or find a solution. This decision was made with a complete lack of consideration for our travel logistics, leaving us in a vulnerable position as we relied on public transport and had to arrange emergency plans. Key considerations for future WWOOFers: having your own vehicle is essential for this location. [...] [WWOOF UK Admin note: parts of this review have been removed in line with our review policy.]

We trust that the mention of being asked to leave early speaks for itself. In our years of hosting Wwoofer’s we have only twice asked someone to leave early, always after attempting to find a way to work with them and support them to engage in the exchange. Reluctantly on this occasion the wwoofers were making other volunteers uncomfortable (should I mention that these other volunteers had come for a month but stayed for five! So it can’t be all bad!!) and so we decided to ask this couple to end their stay two days early. Other reviews are a much more accurate depiction of the wwoofing experience with us and we are proud to count many of our ex-wwoofers as friends and returning volunteers now.

I spent a week at Hempsall Farm, and was so fortunate to have it as my first experience with wwoof; it's a very quiet and peaceful place with countryside all around, like a little world of its own. There's always something going on here, and even over a short visit I got to help out with a variety of things: mainly looking after the animals (mucking, feeding, etc.) as well as expanding the compost heap. Pippa couldn't have been more welcoming and patient and was happy to teach me all about how the garden farm works despite not needing help with it this time of year. Some days were busier than others but generally work was very flexible and there was absolutely no pressure to do more than I was up to; there's plenty of downtime too, so do bring a book! Accommodation was a cosy caravan with my own bedroom and all the amenities including several heaters/heated blanket and a full kitchen and bathroom, as well as access to a laundry room; Pippa is super generous with food and as well as the cupboards being fully stocked to make my own meals, we sometimes got together for breakfast and supper too. It was lovely getting to know everyone here, both the people and all the rescued animals. Thank you for the work you do and thank you for having me, Pippa! :)

We spent two weeks at Hempsall farm and enjoyed every single day. The farm is really calm and peaceful, so if you are happy to relax and take a break you’re at the right address. Our accommodation was clean, large and absolutely cozy. Since we were cooking our own meals we could chose whatever (vegan) stuff we’d like. The working hours are flexible and we really enjoyed the variety of tasks. They included caring for the animals, watering and planting, some weeding, operating a strimmer/ lawnmower and moving the hot compost. It was really fun and we got to learn a lot of new skills. Pippa ist such a welcoming and loving person who made us feel like part of the family. She was always kind and patient with us, so don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions regarding the tasks etc. Thank you so so much for having us. We had the most amazing time and would love to be back <3

Hempsall Farm is a lovely spot and Pippa is very kind with an amazing vision for the vegan sanctuary. The accommodation is a comfortable caravan and the work is the usual WWOOFing type chores of weeding, composting etc. with the added bonus of getting to help take care of the rescued animals (clearing out chicken coops, poo picking the fields), which was amazing. However, unfortunately, I wouldn’t really recommend it to single WWOOFers looking to chat, socialise, or make friends. It is pretty isolated and, as the family is very busy, you will be stuck on your own for the vast majority of the time. I think this place would be absolutely perfect for couples or friends travelling together.

Thanks Amelia, we hope the rest of your Uk visit ha so gone well. You’re absolutely right, it’s an opportunity for two friends or a couple ideally, and we have always listed this in our profile really clearly and did discuss this with you wen you applied. It’s unfortunate that the other single wwoofer cancelled last minute otherwise you’d have hopefully had company in your independent accommodation. That said, we just had a single young lady stay and she didn’t find it lonely at all, as we have lots of vegan glamping guests on site so we’ve had bbqs and pizza nights, and she integrated really easily into family life here. I suppose it really depends on the individual 🙂

We had the most wonderful experience at Hempsall Farm. Pippa and Stuart took us in as a family of four for just over a month. We had brilliant accommodation in the form of a static caravan with everything we needed and much more (super comfy bed with electric blanket !). We were given plenty of time to settle in and get used to the farm and gradually took in more responsibility. The kids were accepted in all their wild glory and enjoyed chatting, learning and spending time with the family and other Wwoofers. It was such a special opportunity to spend time and bond with the animals as we helped care for them every day. It was a treat to be able to help out in the pub bus during the end of the glamping season too. Pippa and Stuart and very kind and caring people and want you to be happy and comfortable at all times. We couldn’t have asked for better hosts. We’ll definitely be back!
