Hello, We are an off-grid 14-acre cider farm, that specialises in making cider vinegar. We are set in beautiful countryside, but the property still needs some work! If you are an experienced horse rider you will love it, as you can make the most of this beautiful part of the world on horseback. If you are interested in cider making or orchard management you will also find this ideal.  We presently have an ensuite downstairs room, which is quite cosy and the whole property is heated by wood burners with back boilers, using the wood from our woods, along with a cosy caravan in the orchard. We have parking for camper vans on a short term basis. We enjoy cooking here, so meals are together. Check our reviews! We make cider vinegar and have a small glamping /horsey holiday business here as well as trying to produce our own food and beverages. Jobs vary throughout the seasons but include: Clearing brambles, collecting wood , foraging and helping with the poly tunnels veg patch and flower beds. Helping with the cider vinegar production, which will include apple pressing in the Autumn and pruning the orchard in Winter. Helping with preserving, brewing and cooking. Cleaning (rainy days and music welcomed!) The current main people staying here are myself (Becci), and my partner Mark. Expect to see some of our other previous volunteers and team members making guest appearances. We accept all types of Wwoofers, we don't mind if you are here to improve your English, we certainly would love to improve our foreign language skills. We obviously welcome skilled Wwoofers but it's not essential, the most important thing is a good attitude and work ethic. You must have a love for animals though! Ruby (the dog) Smudge and Olla (the cats) Bob (especially) and Cleo (the horses) are also very sociable and are often after attention. Please have a look at our website to find out more about us! https://www.ostlerscidervinegar.com/ Organic methods: Organic fertilizer, horse manure and manual labour. Certifications: Organic Farmers and Growers Current projects: Currently, we have 8 acres of orchard and a small veg patch and 3 acres of woodland. Internet access available You will need to get to Barnstaple and we can pick you up from there.

This was our very first WWOOFing experience, and we had the pleasure of being hosted for two and a half weeks by the warm and welcoming Becci at her apple orchard! It was an absolutely fantastic experience; Becci was incredibly friendly, and the tasks were really interesting. A special shout-out to the evening meals, which were delicious every single time! She was so generous and even helped us find our next hosts by tapping into her network of contacts! Since it was peak harvest season, we got to pick apples and press them, giving us a real look at the cider vinegar production process. We also helped care for the chickens and horses and worked on clearing brush in parts of the orchard. We stayed in a cozy, comfortable caravan that gave us some welcome privacy—something we particularly appreciated. We were traveling with our dog, who also had a really good time there. He was welcomed with open arms, too; he got to romp around the fields and gently learn how to be a farm dog! He even had playdates in the orchard with the adorable Ruby, Becci’s dog 😌 There were also other great WWOOFers while we were there. Together with Phoebe, Loulou, and Adele, we made a fantastic team of six with an amazing atmosphere! All in all, it was an unforgettable experience. A huge thank you again to Becci for hosting us and letting us be part of it all! 🙂‍↕️ We’re going to miss the little ritual of watching The Sopranos with you in the evening 😉 Hope to see you again soon! 🎉

I had an amazing four weeks at [Host] in Sept-Oct. I would recommend it to any wwoofer! The work was rewarding, especially when we did things as a team. Becci was responsive to which tasks people preferred to do, or felt up to doing on particular days. Becci is kind and funny, and I felt very welcome. I was so thankful that one day she let me spend some of my WWOOF hours getting to know Cleo the horse. I'm new to horses, so this was really special to me. She even took me out to ride! I was so happy!!! I learned a lot about apples, cider vinegar and drinking cider. It's a great place to visit if you want to learn about cider or farm businesses. Becci knows her stuff!! The other volunteers were lovely too. It was one of the girls' birthdays during my stay, and Becci made her a cake and put real effort into making the day special :) Also, her food is wonderful!!! Dinner was a treat every night. Thank you so much for such a fantastic experience. I'd love to come back and volunteer again one day, and I wish you all the best!

It was my first time Wwoofing, and I loved it! Beccy was a truly a wonderful host, very kind, patient (despite my sometimes shaky English), and a great cook. I slept in the campervan, which was very comfortable, and during my stay I mainly took care of the horses. The balance between work and rest was just right! Over the course of ten days, I had two days off, during which I explored the region. I went hiking in the Valley of the Rocks and in Ilfracombe (two beautiful places). Thank you to Becci and to everyone I met for all these wonderful expériences 🌻

My time at Becci's was great, and I couldn't have asked for a better wwoofing experience! I really loved getting to know everyone at the farm and all the animals were so sweet too. Becci is a great person and really nice to talk to, and what she's done with the orchard and horse glamping is so impressive. All the work was interesting and there were lots of different tasks to be done. While I was there I did some cleaning for the horse glamping, sweeping out the barn, poo picking, gardening and watering the plants, painting, picking some apples, and doing some work on the website. I even helped give Cleo (the horse) a bath, which was a great point to my horse-y aspirations! :D The accommodation was nice and very comfortable and the food was great. The surrounding area is very beautiful and there are tons of things you can do on your days off.

I had an amazing time at [Host} .Rebekah was a perfect host .She is very fair minded, kind and also funny ! Plus she cooked vegan food for me and is a great cook .I worked mainly sorting horses fields out (pulling ragwort/poo picking ) but also gardening ,helping out with cider vinegar production and a bit of cleaning .It was varied work and Rebekah is really cool about working hours and keeps you within a five hour daily limit .I can’t really say enough about my great experience ,the calm beautiful surroundings in rural Devon ..The living quarters are a comfortable, simple caravan that has electric .I would highly recommend this to any woofers .Oh and Rebekah actually organised me to be taken out for the day to be driven around north Devon and I got to swim in the lovely Atlantic .It was just the icing on the cake !
