This small off the beaten track quiet retreat offers organic vegan and juice fasting retreats for 1-3 people wishing to reset their life and improve overall health in mind body and spirit. Clients benefit from being fully immersed in nature away from the hustle and bustle of modern life and all the stresses and strains of pollution, noise and traffic with lots of lovely walks and an iron age fort to explore just a 10 minute amble down the road. The retreat offers a range of complementary therapies such as Acupuncture, Nutrition, Reflexology, Aromatherapy and Herbal Medicine.
The property is a beautiful 175 year 6 bedroom old stone farmhouse set in a stunning remote location on the Western edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales . It is a 3 acre small holding with stream and glade and ancient oaks with 1/2 acre garden and a 2.5 acre field in the middle of nowhere nestled amongst rolling hills, valleys, fields and forest. Their are no near neighbours, just distant farms and sheep.
The property is owned and run single handed by me (Nadia), a fully qualified complementary health practitioner passionate about plant based nutrition, detoxification and living according to the laws of nature. Holding a Masters degree in International Public Health Nutrition and many different natural medicine modalities from Western and Chinese herbal medicine, Acupuncture, Homeopathy, Nutrition and Naturopathy amongst many other natural medicine disciplines.
Due to the remote location it is ESSENTIAL FOR WWOOF's APPLYING TO HAVE THEIR OWN CAR as it is 6 miles from the nearest shop and transport. The standard Wwoof help of 5 hours a day for 5 days a week in exchange for accommodation in a bedroom in the main house, or in a covered caravan if space limited in the house. Also available if required is space for bringing your own camper van or tent in the field. There is internet access and good phone coverage.
There is space for 1-3 WWOOFs at a time. Having a WWOOF couple sharing a room or 2 or 3 friends coming together and sharing a room or two is preferred. So that there will always be a group of WWOOFs at any one time as a single WWOOF applying can be isolating as I am often not able to accompany WWOOFs during the day due to my work schedule either with retreat clients or going to work locally during weekdays when there are no retreat clients as I also provide a local gardening service.
Learning opportunities are provided by helping in the kitchen garden throughout the seasons. Mowing, sowing, watering, weeding, planting, maintaining paths, hedge cutting, collecting, chopping and splitting firewood, fencing repairs, stonework, maintenance around the stream, digging and maintaining a trench behind the property to divert rain water away from the house, clearing brambles and bracken, creating raised beds, help in the house if it is raining such as organizing gardening tools, decluttering the barn and cow shed, cooking, help to make the conservatory a magical space as a fruit producing haven.
There are currently 2 small greenhouses and 2 small polytunnels for growing vegetables as well as raised beds. There is also a conservatory with a 40 year old grape vine, plus potted fig, lemon and orange trees.
All food (mostly organic) is provided for making your own breakfast and lunch and then we share dinner together in the evening. This is a vegan household and a vegan or vegetarian WWOOF is preferred as meat or alcohol is not provided or welcomed. Non smokers are also preferred.
Other people living on the property are 2 long term lodgers one in a caravan and one in a studio. There are no animals other than Rosie the cat. Life here in Wales is like living 50 years ago, the pace is slow and steady and we muck in together and try to live stress free.
Sightseeing opportunities are numerous with beaches one hour away, lots of ruined castles to explore, horse riding schools nearby and a horse sanctuary, the black mountains to explore, the local pubs in the nearby towns and villages, National Trust properties, Aberglasney gardens, waterfalls, wild swimming, the Botanical garden of Wales just half an hour away and much much more as well as the Iron Age Fort just 10 minutes walk down the road.
Log burners in the house to cosy up to and friendly, relaxed and happy atmosphere with like-minded environmentally conscious new friends. Water is from a spring and apart from being on mains electricity we are as off grid and organic as possible. We look forward to you coming to join us and sharing in the peace that is here and going home having learnt some new skills and what it is like living closer to nature. It would be great to hear from you.
