We have been growing a wide variety of vegetables on 47 raised beds, 5 acres of field and 11 polytunnels for 30yrs. The vegetables are sold in our Farm shop and the courtyard has 6 other businesses including a Cafe. Woodland covers 25acres and we rent out grazing on another 30 acres. The work is extremely varied. We have had French internships coming to the farm for 25yrs and previously between 1996 to 2008 we accommodated WWOOF's. So we have experience in passing on our skills and many people who have worked here have gone on to run their own projects. We have enjoyed showing off the Dorset countryside mainly on bikes and trips to the Jurassic coast. We are very close to sustrans cycle route 25 which is easy to follow to all the local towns as far up as Salisbury and down to Poole. Organic methods: We have belonged to the Soil Association since 1987 and use a minimum dig on the raised beds. We are also part of the country-side stewardship mid-tier scheme. Certifications: Soil Association Current projects: We prepare raised beds and tunnels all year round for rotational planting of a wide range of vegetables. Planting and harvesting are all year round activities but more intense April to June and Sept to early November. In the winter we maintain fences, hedges and buildings. The farm shop is run all year round. Internet access available

I would highly recommend [Host] to anyone - Sara and Andrew are lovely people and really generous hosts who make you feel super welcome and comfortable living and working here. I've been studying a part-time horticulture course alongside, and both have taken the time to share their knowledge to help guide my learning, which I have really appreciated and am really grateful to. The work is varied and interesting, the food is delishio, and the rest of the team working here are great, which makes for a fun and relaxed atmosphere where I've genuinely enjoyed every day. Thanks so much for having me!

Volunteering here was a really special experience! I was interested in learning more about organic growing, with the hope of starting my own business one day and this was the perfect place to begin that journey. Sara and Andrew were incredibly generous with their knowledge and genuinely interested in teaching me everything they could. I got to try out loads of different tasks, which really helped me learn a lot during my time there. On top of that, the accommodation was amazing and the homegrown food was delicious! I would definitely go back again and highly recommend this farm to anyone looking to learn and be inspired!

I had a really wonderful stay at Gold Hill farm. I was only there for ten days, but I had the opportunity to learn and get involved in so many aspects of organic farming. Everyone is such fun to be around. I loved staying in the farm house and getting to know the family. Thank you Sara, Andrew, Pip and Sandra for creating such a fantastic experience. I am already excited to come back!

Sara is so so kind! Despite my visit coinciding with a busy and stressful period in her family’s life, she truly was an excellent host. I learned a lot about farming on a larger scale and their farm shop business. The team at the farm was so fun to work with, as well! Wishing everyone the best, and feel free to come visit me anytime you want some sunshine!

It was absolutely wonderful experience to work in this farm. I learned a lot from farm family about practical farming and nature of Dorset. It was very impressive to have a shop and farm next to each other so l was able to see both vegetables field and customers who eat veg grown in this farm. I also studied the farming problem in England such as tired soil and loneliness in the countryside through working and discussing with people in this farm. I appreciate it to give me the meaningful experience.

My partner Mary and I had the most wonderful time at Gold Hill. We learnt loads about growing by getting fully stuck in on the farm which is a highly productive space, Andrew and Sara a top farmers with buckets of experience under their belts and have built such an impressive operation! Beyond this we felt so welcome on the farm, Sara would cook lovely lunches for us all and we'd eat together as Andrew threw puns around like loose change, it was so damn lovely! The farm's set in such a gorgeous part of England too, with Hambledon hill with it's epic sunset views on your doorstep and Blandford forest with lovely old trees to go rambling in not far away either! The rest of the team there are lovely too and the accommodation is really gorgeous, a self build tiny home cabin with a lovely big fire if you fancy! Thanks for our lovely time with you guys, ciao for now!!
