I grow willows for basketmaking and living willow projects. We also cultivate a vegetable garden and are making green manure areas in the field. The land needs keeping trim- brambles constantly need clearing, hazels need coppicing etc. Organic methods: weeding, crop rotation, regular inspection of crops, Developing a keyhole compost and raised beds Certifications: we don't sell our produce Current projects: cutting willow for basketmaking, cleaning the willow beds, tidying the hedges, preparing green manure beds, ongoing maintenance of tools and surroundings. Depending on availability you will have your own self contained accommodation in either a chalet or caravan. Occasional meals will be shared but food will be provided and cooking facilities are available so you will be able to cater for yourself. Internet access available

I really enjoyed my time at the Cottages, it is a beautiful part of the country walking distance to a great beach and on a bus route to Penzance. Geraldine was a receptive host and the site was a friendly little community. I loved living surrounded by the beautiful Willow trees. Really greatful to Geraldine for my stay!

sorry Caroline, apparently it's too late for them to accept the review that i wrote, which said what a brilliant job you'd done whilst I was away and that you'd be welcome to come again any time, best wishes and thanks again, i'm home now, do drop in if you're nearby, Geraldine

The Cottages is one of the most unique and special places I have ever had the pleasure to visit. The creative community which lives there is both fascinating and inspiring. I am very grateful to have come across this unique, unspoiled place. Geraldine really is the best host I have ever met. She is very welcoming and makes sure you are okay and you got everything you need. She even offered me her fresh home-made kefir in the mornings. The Cottage is also very near to lovely beaches like Prussia Cove and Praa Sand Beach. I strongly recommend the Cottages. It was one of the most memorable heart-warming experiences I have ever had. I want to go back and learn willow basket making from Geraldine and spend some time at the Cottages.

Geraldine's willow farm was a lovely tranquil haven amongst verdant fields near Praa Sands beach. A pleasant walk through ancient tin mine country takes you down a country lane to the stunning coast path with walks east to Porthlevan or west to Marazion. Alternatively a totally sealed sidewalk takes you past historic Pengersick castle to the centre of picturesque Praa Sands. A great place to rewind and have lots of time to commune with the quiet natural surrounds. Geraldine was good company and I really enjoyed the friendly, open and ambient atmosphere in Geraldines home. Her family was very friendly also and shared a jolly repast together. Her 4 neighbours that share the land are friendly and very relaxed. The caravan is cosy and private so there is space to completely retreat into your own world. With groceries provided you can be happily independent. Geraldine's craft shop she shares with other crafts people is a bohemian smorgasbord. To be part of the process of Geraldines willow weaving was a great treat. Cutting the willow canes and assisting their erection at one of Geraldines workshops was very educational. Helping to give the willows a more pleasant growing medium by removing unwanted bramble and bamboo held a raw satisfaction and I really enjoyed being an aid to her process of the final woven products. With a pub almost next door and a supermarket 15 minutes walk it was ideal for little wanders into the 'real world'. Thanks so much Geraldine! Charlie x
