I stayed at Aldenham from this November - April past. I personally used this time to get to know caring for different animals. On farm team you will get hands on with daily duties of animal welfare (breeding, health, etc) and farm management (feeds, store). You can also do public facing stuff, and it's a good opportunity to develop your confidence - I did lamb bottle feeding sessions a lot which involved public speaking and entertaining small children :D. Aldenham is a working farm / visitor centre combined, you will be expected to be professional, so expect an institutional vibe from the place. They make sure you get what you want out of it, though. I found a lot of the farm practice really educational, like livestock paddock rotations and breeding. Maria, the farm manager, is very patient and good at explainin her thinking behind a lot of technical farming stuff. You can tell it's not her first rodeo. The people in general at ACP are good, they are passionate about animals and there's a camaraderie about the place. I made good friends there. Faye will probably show you the ropes, and she's cool and very humble, leads by example. The room & board is comfortable. Keep in mind that you are kind of like a tenant there, not so much a guest in someone's home - but at the time I was there Paul & Liam were a pleasure to stay with. Overall I had a good experience and would recommend it to anyone considering it! Thank you Aldenham for a great WWOOF memory!
