We have nine acres in the South Downs National Park in East Sussex. nPeople here are myself (permanent) and various friends, family, guests and dogs visiting ad lib. My elder son has sheep and chickens, bees and some young grapevines on the eight acre field near the house. And we have a garden we are working with. Our principles and practices are organic, sustainable, permaculture, practical and all with joy and vigour. Our experience and knowledge covers growing, foraging, livestock, preserving of all sorts, cooking, old skills and being generally kind. Also other interests as time allows. You will be here as part of the family. The day is often long, the food is good and plentiful, tasks varied and may include planting, watering, weeding, digging, maintenance as well as feeding livestock and cleaning out. and collecting eggs, picking fruits etc. We move the sheep regularly. There is a bus service to connect with Lewes, Brighton, Haywards Heath and train stations along the coast or to Gatwick and London. There is a choice of accomodation. You are welcome to come for 48 hours as a taster or longer by arrangement. In the past I had a fifty hectare completely self sufficient, organic farm in Spain. A large customer base meant we had to set up a weekly organic produce market and for almost twenty years this provided for our family, friends and WWOOFers and am very willing to share that learnt knowledge and our practices. This place is not about traditional subsistence farming but it is important to me as a means of continuing with a lifelong belief in growing family food, ñ he's sharing with neighbours and a life in harmony with the environment and allowing the old ways to be remembered. Food is plentiful, there is a choice of comfortable accomodation. I shall always discuss tasks and happily work alongside you if wanted. You will be welcomed.
