We have a small field on the Somerset levels with a view of Glastonbury Tor and easy walking access to beautiful Westhay and Shapwick nature reserves. There is a lovely orchard with apples, pears, greengage, plum, medlar, oolonsgage and more, mostly planted by my dad, some as long as 30 years ago. There is an orangerie on the side of the barn, mostly given over to tomatoes, cucumbers, chili's and tomatillo and peppers and a couple of smaller greenhouses growing the same. Then there are a couple of veg patches, given over to beans (broad, runner, borlotti), chard, kale , cabbage, various berries and more. My dad, Bob, has been growing and gifting fruit and veg his whole life, he always meant to sell it but usually ended up giving it away, it's always given him so much pleasure. He's in his 70s now and suffered a stroke just over a year ago. My partner and I run a small eco campsite so don't have as much time as we would like, or that Bob needs, to get the land back to where it was before he became less mobile. He may not be as spry as he was but he is an absolute wealth of knowledge. His speech is a bit slower now but its all there. It's a family effort, my other half and I will be on hand most of the time and mum comes and plants bulbs and flowers when the sun shines, but it is Bobs happy place so he will be there to point out what needs doing and offer advice. We would have a range of activities throughout the year from clearing, digging, weeding, hedging, planting, pruning, potting up, picking, creating raised beds and a large, 3 bay compost bin. We don't have any electricity on site except for a limited amount of solar. Your accommodation would be a spacious 5 meter bell tent with rug, solar lights, a proper bed, armchair, cool box table, and some cooking facilities. You will need to bring some bedding with you as it can get a bit cold on the levels. There is a hot shower, fresh water and flushing toilets on the site. As you would basically be posh camping we would also provide some rustic outdoor furniture and your own fire pit so you can fully enjoy your beautiful natural surroundings and drink in the legendary sunsets. Glastonbury Town is 20 minutes walk away with many pubs and cafes, the Abbey, Rural Life Museum, Chalice Well, Glastonbury Tor is 40 mins stroll from our gate. There is a community arts centre, The Red Brick Building a 5 minute walk away that holds various events from live music to yoga sessions. The activities will be very much weather dependent, we wouldn't expect you to work in the rain. The hours will be extremely flexible.

My time at [Host] was an absolute highlight of my summer! Sadie and Kevin run the campsite and Bob came by once a day on his scooter and I spend some time gardening with him. Aside from that, I spend my days doing classic gardening works: weeding, watering the flower, and taking care of the tomatoe plants. Everyone I met was so incredibly nice to me and made sure I didn't work too hard in the midday heat. I enjoyed that we each cooked our own food since I need a lot of downtime but if you're interested in shared meals with the other Woofers you could do that. The place is beautiful and I watched the sunset every day. You can walk into Glastonbury or use public transport to explore the area which I mostly did on foot. Sadie, Kevin and Bob are some of the nicest people I've met this year and since everyday people come and go on the campsite I met many new people which I truly enjoyed. I would absolutely recommend [Host]!

[Host] was a joy. The general sense of abundance, generosity and good humour, alongside the hard work, was inspiring. I also had the good fortune to be there working at the same time as two other very special Wwoofers. Bob, of course, is wonderful - wise, funny and brilliant.

We spent two and a half weeks woofing here, and it was an amazing experience! The work is enjoyable and well-organized, about 25 hours per week, with the bonus of not working when it rains. We could also freely choose our days off, which allowed us to explore the region (Cardiff, Wales, the Jurassic Coast, Bristol, Bath, Exeter…). The atmosphere in the canteen is really warm and friendly, and Sadie cooks delicious homemade meals. Our yurt accommodation was perfect: located right next to the workplace, in direct contact with the campers, which allowed us to chat and meet many people. Finally, the other woofers were very welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable. A woofing experience we highly recommend! Many thanks again to Sadie, Kevin, and Bob for their hospitality and kindness.

My short-but-sweet experience at Bobsfield was magical. It was such a pleasure to get to know Bob and soak up some of the endless knowledge he holds about gardening techniques. The other long-term WWOOFers and staff there were all incredibly welcoming, and it was a joy working alongside them. I didn’t get to interact with Sadie and Kevin much as they were busy with a festival while I was there, but based on my few interactions with them I can tell you they are a total hoot and some all around lovely humans. Bobsfield itself is a serene space in which I got to reconnect with nature and fully immerse myself into all that the site and the community have to offer. I can’t recommend this experience enough!!

Loved my time at Bobsfield! Bob, Sadie and Kevin are some of the friendliest and coolest (haha) people I’ve met. I really enjoyed working with Bob. We planted different kinds of vegetables and flowers and did some weeding and pruning. I learned so much from him, it’s clear that he’s very passionate about his plants which is so nice to see. And what I probably loved the most was listening to his stories, he’s such an interesting person with so many amazing things to share. I really enjoyed staying at the campsite and the independence that came with that, while knowing that Sadie and Kev were there if I ever needed anything; they made sure I was happy and comfortable. I’m still so impressed by the way they built the place from the ground up with recycled materials, really amazing! I would love to come back sometime to see the place in a different season and to try the food from the cantina, which I’ve heard is incredible! Miss staying there and would definitely recommend, thank you again! :)

I had the upmost pleasure of staying at BobsField for a month. The hosts are simply amazing individual's! Everyone was incredibly warm and welcoming when I first got there and throughout my time with them. They were cognizant of my comfort and needs. I was with them (2024) during the Fall/harvest, and near the start of winterizing the garden. I simply adored Bob and his plants. I learned a lot about plant ecology, ways of propagating, how to prune certain plants, as well as a plethora of plant names and purposes. On top of that I became familiar with several types of birds thanks to Bob's expertise! Their work approach was very flexible 25 hours a week, they often encouraged me to go out and explore the town of Glastonbury, and adjacent towns. The jobs I was tasked with while volunteering were: general weeding and pruning, as well as watering and the harvest and collection of various vegetables. I hope to return and work with them during a different season. Thank you all of everything!
