Family home with organic vegetable garden, polly tunnel and orchard. Chickens and 3 Jack Russelsss
Northamptonshire
1. We live on a small farm in the beautiful rolling Northamptonshire countryside. We share our home with chickens and 3 lovely little dogs.
I live here with my grown up son, a and a lovely lady who cooks delicious and healthy food for us. We grow and cook our own fruit and vegetables to be as self sufficient as possible.
2. We would like help with the gardening and harvesting of the vegetables. Helping with tree and hedge planting. You may also help with dogs and chickens.
Help with routine household chores such as taking bins out, weeding sweeping up outside, helping to clear up after meals. [we do have a dish washer !!!]
Twice a week you will be required to help cook on our cook's days off.
3. What could a WWOOFer's day look like at your site (time slot for participation in activities, expectations...)?
All chores can be easily completed in no more than four hours a day, five days a week. No early starts, unless you want to! Your evenings would be your own. Lunch is usually soup and cheese with home-made bread. We often eat evening meals together, where we eat mainly vegetarian or vegan food. You can spend your free time exploring the area, where your own transport would help you get around. There are buses a short walk away and a train station three miles away with quick links to London.
4. Play the guide! Talk about your own hobbies (music, cooking, etc.) and those possible around (hiking, swimming, etc.):
We have a lovely, comfortable living room where you can read, watch TV or stream on your own devices. We often stream series together - most recently, Happy Valley and currently Clarkson's Farm!
There are lots of lovely walks to take and little villages to explore. There are three pubs in the nearby village, a shop and a hairdresser!
We are very interested in regenerative agriculture and conservation, and our vegetable production is organic, but we don't do this on a big scale.
We do have water and electricity hook ups for anyone who wants to stay in their own van.

A wonderful experience! I spent seven weeks on the farm. Everyone is welcoming and kind. I was able to discover new things. The tasks to be done are varied (picking, cooking, taking care of the animals, cleaning, etc.) and the people are patient. There is a wide variety of produce grown in the polytunnels and vegetable garden.
You never get bored, especially with the dogs and puzzles. I was also able to explore the surrounding area even without a car. The countryside is beautiful, with rolling hills and footpaths accessible from the farm.
Thank you so much Fiona, Tracey, Murray, and Claire for this stay!

I really enjoyed my 3 week stay with fiona. Everybody I met here was so lovely and I felt really welcomed and appreciated. I was shown how to lay a hedge by her son Murray; helped spread muck onto the vegetable garden and in their impressive polytunnel; and general tasks around the farm and house. There were delicious homemade meals cooked by Tracey; lots of jigsawing; and 2 gorgeous friendly doggies.
I would recommend staying here to any wwoofer.

Great farm with a good deal of variety of tasks. The time is well managed and leaves plenty of opportunities to do your own stuff. If you enjoy going out, you wil need a car or spend a little while on your bike. You will be better off if you know a bit about gardening and vegetarian cooking, but you could also learn on the go. If you enjoy going for a walk, there are some pathes nearby and the scenery is beatiful. The owners are patient and undersanding.

My first WOOF experience was truly unforgettable, far exceeding any expectations I had. I was welcomed with incredible warmth and kindness by Fiona, an absolutely delightful person. The other people I met at the farm, Tracey and Murray, were also simply wonderful.
The farm itself is a magical place: a true paradise of fresh and delicious vegetables, with an incredible variety of carefully cultivated produce. There are also some animals, but my favorites were definitely the two lively Jack Russells! Every day, I had the pleasure of enjoying exquisite dishes made with fresh ingredients directly from the polytunnel. The quality and taste of the food were truly unmatched.
My main goal was to improve my English, and even though none of them were teachers, Fiona and the others were always willing to help me and correct me during our conversations. This made learning enjoyable and natural.
I highly recommend an experience at Fiona's farm. It was one of the best vacations of my life, and I can't thank Fiona, Tracey, and Murray enough for their incredible hospitality. Thank you so much, Fiona, Tracey, and Murray!

Fiona's farm is gorgeous. They have a spacious house, a thriving polytunnel and garden, an orchard, and there are lots of sheep owned by someone else nearby. Some important things to note: this is a farm stay for a very experienced Woofer, not a beginner. To feel good here you need to have lots of experience with growing produce, caring for chickens, and dogs. You should have a thick skin, too, as there are expectations that you will know what you're doing and be able to jump in right away. Also, you should have a car, as it's so rural there aren't good buses, so if you want to see the area on your days off, you'll have to pay for taxis, so that part of the description is very accurate. Other parts of the job description are different, which probably just change with time based on who else is working there, so I would ask lots of detailed questions about what a typical day would be like, so that you are prepared. This was my first woofing experience, and first time working with animals. It was very hard keeping track of all of the things expected of me, with little patience for learning and mistakes. If you are very experienced, not sensitive to criticism, extraverted, and have a vehicle, I think you will relish the beauty of this place, and the opportunity to experience the countryside on your days off.
