Small farm in the Highlands of Scotland.
Highland
We run a small family farm in the Highlands of Scotland, in conjunction with our other jobs as a Doctor and Teacher. We have two small children, two sheep dogs, around fifty sheep and four cows. We have lambs and calves in the Spring which are kept for meat for ourselves or sold at the local market. We grow as much as we can on our vegetable patch and in our polytunnel, and keep a few chickens for eggs. The farm is run organically without any artificial fertilisers or pesticides. As far as possible the livestock is raised on pasture, plus hay that we make in the Summer.
We are situated outside the village of Cannich, at the foot of Glen Affric. The landscape is very picturesque, and the location provides great access for hill-walking, cycling, running and other outdoor activities. There is a small local shop with basic supplies in Cannich, and larger shops and facilities in the towns of Drumnadrochit and Beauly, each around 25 minutes away by car. There are bus services to these towns. The city of Inverness is around 45 minutes by car, and is also linked by bus services.
We have travelled fairly extensively, and enjoy meeting people from different cultures and different parts of the world. We invite guests to come and share our daily life with us at the farm . WWOOFers can participate in activities such as checking and feeding the animals and tending to the vegetables. We can offer accommodation in a self contained area of our house, with its own shower room and kitchenette.
We are taking enquiries for 2026 so please get in touch if you would like to WOOF with us.
We look forward to meeting you!

I had a wonderful week with Hamish, Cara and their two very cute children. Everyone was very warm, open and welcoming. I had a few tasks, especially in the vegetable garden, but was often able to organise the day on my own. And there was plenty of free time. Playing with the children, baking cakes or being outside with them was great fun! The farm is in a rural location, but you can make lovely trips to lakes and the mountains by bike. And Inverness and Loch Ness are easily accessible by bus.
The room was very cosy and there is a small kitchen for the wwofer. Cara provided me with everything I needed for breakfast or lunch. And dinner was always with the family, which was great!
Thank you so much for everything!

Wonderful place with a wonderful family!! We had an amazing week with them all! We were very happy to contribute to their projects while this week! The accommodation for the woofers is very confortable: it is a part of their house where you can have your own independence (cooking, sleeping, bathroom and toilets) We spent dinners together.
We wanted to share moments with Scottish people in their daily life, improving our English language...But we received so more than expected!! Their smiles and kindness are a precious gift!
We would be really happy to come back, helping them and see how their projects evolved and how their lovely kids are growing.
Many thanks!!

We had a great Wwoofing with Hamish, Cara and their two children. This family is lovely and we felt comfortable straight away. Hamish and Cara gave us autonomy with the work and it was very pleasant and varied. We recommend this woofing+++. Thanks again for everything, we will miss you (and Laïka misses Taurus too)

I had a lovely week with Cara and Hamish and their children.
The surroundings are beautiful. They were so kind and helpfull - we did a lot of the jobs together and talked away. They really care for their animals and their impact on the invironment. I learned from both of them and are very inspired by their hard work.
I had plenty of free time and a bike to ride - they even took me hillwalking on a Glen and we had half a day by the beach.
It was nice to have breakfest and lunch in a little kitchen for my self, and then sharing dinner (and pudding). The food was great, organic and good quality!
I hope I can come back some day and visit - will miss you all :)) x

I spent almost two weeks here and loved every minute of it. Hamish and Cara are very kind, very caring and always made sure I had everything I needed. The tasks they asked me to do were accessible and enjoyable. They have two really cute children ! Baking with the eldest was great fun :) I really liked their farm, it was very peaceful, I had lots of free time and I was able to visit the surrounding area. I couldn't have wished for anything better for my first woofing. Hamish and Cara are wonderful hosts ! Thank you for everything and I hope to see you soon !!

We had a fantastic stay at Hamish and Cara’s small Farm. We enjoyed each task such as helping vaccinating or sheering sheep, weeding, chopping wood etc. We had plenty of time to enjoy the scenic landscapes and forests around the farm. We are also thankful for the time spend with the family and the discussions we had. Our first woofing experience could not have been better!
