Hi there, we are Owen, Rose and our young child Ailsa. We live in rural county Tyrone, the nearest village being Clogher, which is 3 miles away. The farm is on 75 acres of land, we are developing 30 acres of land with a holistic, more regenerative style of agriculture. This includes planting of 3000 trees with many more hedgerows and trees to plant. We look after around 20 sheep, 2 goats and 1 dog. There are many outbuildings that require maintenance and preservation using traditional methods. We aspire to be more self sufficient with growing food for our family and friends. We need help with the following: -planting trees -growing food -traditional building skills -fire wood production -garden preparation -animal husbandry -planting hedges -fencing Accomodations will be a cosy smallish bedroom on the top floor of the farm house, with a shared bathroom. There will be food available for all meals, no expectations to eat together, but we generally eat our evening meals together if you want to join in. Work day is generally 10am till 3pm, 5 days a week, but open for flexibility. Days will be different each day, dependent on weather and what's needed. I enjoy working together, and will generally be around to guide but there will also be solo work. We really enjoy being outside and working outdoors, spending time in nature. I love hiking, camping and all things wild, I also love cooking and crafting, I'm curious about all things that are creative and all things to do with home steading! Owen is a black smith, but handy at many crafts. The countryside here is beautiful, very quiet and not many tourists. Lots of pretty hedgerows and lanes to walk and forage in, woodlands to explore and loughs to swim in. Belfast is about an hour on the bus and there are direct buses from Clogher. Clogher is about 40 mins walk away.

I had an amazing time staying on Rose and Owen's farm! They're both very welcoming, considerate, and interesting people. We enjoyed meals together and had lots of great conversations on all kinds of topics. I worked mostly in the garden and was happy doing this as I'm interested in plants and also generally in outdoor physical work. Rose was also always conscientious of if I was happy with a given task, and made it clear that we could figure out a different bit of work if I wasn't happy with something. Each morning I would also check on the goats and sheep, which was a lovely routine - the views from the farm around the rolling hills of the valley were incredible. The farm is walking distance from the town of Cogher, which has 2 small supermarkets and a pharmacy where you can get any essentials easily. There is also bus access from their to other Nearby villages and towns, including Enniskillen which I visited on two weekends and really loved - it is a larger town with an old castle, quite a lot of shops and amazing views of lakes. Owen was kind enough to show me some blacksmithing one weekend which was a pretty amazing and unique experience! I also was able to make a sourdough loaf using Rose's starter and recipe book, which has ignited my interest in baking now that I'm back :) I had a great time!

Rose, Owen and Ailsa are such a warm and kind family! With them I felt at home, words will never be enough to describe how good and peaceful time I had. I was supposed to spend one month with them but I decided to stay more than two (and will probably go back in the future!) I went just for a wwoofing experience but I found good friends :) I had my own cosy private room. The food was great. There are several enjoyable walks around, and would also be better if you could get a bike or a car. The work was very relaxed and with a lot of variety. With a garden, sheep, trees and old buildings in need of reparations there is always something to do. I was able to learn some pleasant old skills like pointing and white washing too. I could write a whole book about how generous they are and how much I enjoyed being at their home... if you visit them, you will love it!

What an amazing experience! I came to Tulanavert for a research project on wool, and Rose and Owen did not disappoint! They made me feel so welcome and showed me all they could about sheep and their land. I had an unforgettable time, especially with the animals and little Ailsa :) couldn’t recommend their farm more!

Wow, what can I say! Tulanavert was a dream! It was my first time woofing, and I couldn’t have picked a better place to start off. I got to learn so many new skills, bask in the peace and quiet, and to be surrounded by nature. Rose was beyond accommodating to my health issues, always asking if I was doing okay and making sure I got breaks throughout the day. She really is the hostess with the mostess! She even taught me how to crochet, a hobby which now I’m deep into. I loved going into the fields with her and her daughter Ailsa and saying hello to the sheep and exploring the surrounding areas together. I had so much fun getting to know Ailsa, she is such a gem and it was so amazing to see her laugh and smile even whilst she chased me around the garden. I was a little nervous at first as I wanted her to feel comfortable and not rush introductions but it was so easy! She reminded me so much of me when I was younger so it took no time at all for us to get along like a house on fire! I can’t wait to see her again soon too! Owen was so caring and helpful, whilst I didn’t see him as much due to schedules, he made some banging food and was willing to talk to me about his craft and about the farm and was just a cracking host as well! I felt so immediately welcomed and comfortable with everyone, the kindness and generosity that was showed to me was unlike anywhere I’ve been before. Thank you for making my first trip to Northern Ireland (def not my last) the best ever ❤️

Thanks so much Phoebe! We had a really beautiful month and a half with Phoebe, who settled in very quickly to our quiet(ish) lifestyle and farm shenanigans. I felt really comfortable with Phoebe being in our space, and she was particularly respectful around our daughters adjustments to having a new person around. Phoebe was really hilarious, very sensitive to the land /animals/peoples and easy to communicate with if anything arose. She got on with tasks and let us know if it was feeling too much for her, meaning she could take a break or change the task. Our little one really loved her and was sad to see her go! Phoebe was eager to share her art and creations with us and I learnt alot about digital art. She is a great seamstress and overall a very creative person who has lots of experience in different areas, and has dabbled in many different crafts. There was not enough time to learn all the things she knew! We were very thankful for grateful for all the support she gave our family.

My time on this farm was truly fantastic. Rose and Owen are very kind and welcoming people. I also enjoyed the work a lot and the tasks were varied. I also learned a lot about sheep, blacksmithing, bread baking and farming and had a lot of time to pursue my hobbies. I can really recommend this farm.

Rose and Owen are two incredible humans full of love and authenticity. Experience~ the work was varied. We learned traditional skills such as lime pointing, as well as working with the earth, preparing garden beds and other homesteading activities like moving wood and supporting the home. It was a sweet experience including a wee one, a work away and some silly dogs, so it really became a little community quickly. We supported each other in ways that are hard to put into words. Many shared meals and conversations and the land surrounding was truly full of stories and forgotten history. We had been traveling for more than a month and coming here felt like coming home in many ways. We felt cared for and accepted. It was the first place where we felt we belonged in quite a while. They were very communicative and easy going and it was hard to leave in the end. So much love for this family. <3
