My husband and I are both retired and live at Ty'r Felin in North Wales with our dog - a beagle. We've lived here over 30 years and, after keeping horses and sheep on the land, we decided to grow trees and plants. We have a range of activities each season that include weeding and growing plants in spring, grass cutting and raking in the summer months and fruit harvesting in autumn. We grow perennial fruit and vegetables in the forest garden but also have vegetable and flower beds that need maintenance in the spring and summer. You could also be riding the quad to cut the grass on the field or chipping wood for paths. There is an annexe which can accommodate at least two and give you privacy when we're not working, relaxing or sharing meals. Breakfast can be taken in the annexe when you get up. Lunch is usually a light meal (hopefully eaten outside) with our evening meal taken in the main house. My husband and I like walking (and having a beagle means daily walks). We also both share an interest in green issues, whether it's building and maintaining eco friendly structures such as a composting toilet or working on permaculture projects within our community. We both like cooking.

I had a wonderful experience WWOOFing at [Host] in July. Helen and Ian were incredibly welcoming and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Their hospitality was exceptional, and we truly enjoyed our time working, learning, and sharing experiences with them. Spending time with their lovely dog, Stitch, was an added bonus and made our stay even more memorable. Thank you, Helen and Ian, for such a fantastic experience—we'll always look back on our time at [Host] with great fondness!

We stayed for a short weekend as complete beginners and honestly it could not have been a better introduction to WWOOFing. Helen and Ian were super welcoming and made us feel at home straight away. They are both really wise and have loads of knowledge to share about the local land, nature and life in general. The place itself is lovely and peaceful. The work was really flexible. They were happy for us to get involved with whatever we were comfortable with. The accommodation was lovely, like having your own little home, and the food was delicious. We were really well fed the whole time, with plenty of breaks for tea and their award-winning scones in between. Overall it was such a positive and relaxed first experience. Can't recommend this place enough. Big thanks to Helen and Ian for the experience!

I had an amazing time working with Helen! This was my first wwoofing experience, but I felt extremely comfortable. The work and pace of the day was wonderful and I hope to return soon. Highly recommend helping them out if you have a spare weekend and want to do some work in the garden!

Helen and Ian are brilliant hosts! They love their land and community and are very caring. Thank you for your warm and friendly welcome. I enjoyed helping Helen with her forest garden, clearing some weeds, planting flowers and seeds for next year, putting mulch around fruit trees and making chutney. We visited one of local community projects lead by Helen and flexed our muscles at clearing well established flower bed for one of the village residents. Helen planned our schedule well and this included tea breaks with award winning home baked scones, thank you Ian! During my free time I enjoyed perusing books from Helen’s library on gardening and permaculture; walking and appreciating wonderful views of the local area and Snowdonia. I stayed in a comfortable accommodation with own kitchen, but I didn’t need to cook as Helen and Ian invited me to join them for delicious dinners and shared their great life stories. I had wonderful experience and hope to visit them again.
