Hiya, my wife Cara and I have a small farm of about 100 acres at the far end of the beautiful Kintyre Peninsula that hangs off the far west of Scotland. It is quiet and remote, about 2 miles from some golden beaches and surrounded by hills and forest. Our stone farmhouse is 170 years old and runs mostly on solar energy with a wood burning stove. Together we run horse-riding adventures with our characterful herd, and manage our own, self-sufficient small-holding with a few pigs, a wee flock of about 30 colourful Shetland Sheep, a few chickens, the dogs (Kiyo and Yeva) and three friendly farm cats. We are looking for some help feeding and caring for the animals, growing produce for the farm, helping in the house and general activities around the farm. We start in the morning, bringing in the horses, feeding the animals and getting everything ready for the day. Jobs include helping in the garden with growing vegetables, animal feeding and welfare, tree planting, keeping the house clean and tidy and helping with the horses. If there are rides going out you may be able to join some of these depending on your ability. We would love to show you our tree project on the farm, creating new woodland areas with native trees, horse dung and recycled tubes to restore the river banks and create wildlife habitats. There are sometimes small building projects such as chicken housing and fence repairs. In the farm we might bake bread, make butter and try and be as self-sufficient as we can be. You will stay in the farmhouse in one of the two volunteer bedrooms that we have, with a shared bathroom. All food is provided. Sometimes you will eat with us altogether and other times use the kitchen to cook for yourselves with food provided (you just need to let us know what you like to cook and any dietary requirements). We are really interested in self-sufficiency, off-grid living and cooking from basics. In the evenings we may listen to music, knit and read. We are also fascinated by natural horsemanship and spend a lot of time training and playing with the horses. If you like to swim there's a few good spots in the river or you can run/cycle down to the beach. There are some great hikes in the area and lots of nature.

I was lucky enough to spend several weeks with Cara and Nikki in July — and what a blessing! It was my first WWOOFing experience, and I couldn’t have hoped for a better place to start. I learned so much, spent unforgettable moments with the horses, met amazing fellow volunteers, and got to know the wonderful people who work with Nikki and Cara (a special shout-out to Christina for her kindness and her delicious meals!). I can only recommend this WWOOFing experience — it truly did me a world of good. Cara and Nikki’s warmth and kindness make you feel at home from the very first moment. The tasks are varied and really enjoyable: you spend a lot of time caring for the animals, helping out in the vegetable garden, and even joining Nikki and Cara on their horseback rides. It was an incredible experience that I’ll never forget. A huge thank-you to Cara, Nikki, and the whole team for their kindness, patience, and all the wonderful memories. I truly hope to come back one day! 💛

We had such an amazing time working with Nikki and Cara at [host]! They were super welcoming and made the whole experience feel like home. We loved spending time with the animals (the horses were total sweethearts), and getting to help out with the gardening and learn more about sustainability was really cool and eye-opening. One of the highlights for us was definitely the archery activities—so much fun and way more addictive than we expected! Overall, it was such a great vibe—peaceful, playful, and full of good energy. Huge thanks to Nikki and Cara for being such awesome humans and letting us be a part of it all. We already miss it!

I came for two weeks in April 2025. I was with two other German volunteers. The woofer feeds the animals every morning, he helps with construction work, gardening, and cleaning the guests' rooms once a week. I didn't know how to ride a horse, so I helped feed and brush them. Cara and Nikki allowed me to go on a horseback ride and learn. I really had a wonderful experience and met some wonderful people! Thank you again for everything!

I had the time of my life volunteering at Wildways. Nikki and Cara are as kind and welcoming as they come. The food was fresh and delicious, and the location was absolutely stunning surrounded by miles of rolling hills, woodlands, and plenty of lovely animals, including horses, dogs, chickens, and cats. The work was always clearly laid out with a rota, so we knew exactly what we were doing each day. I learned so much during my time there and couldn’t recommend Wildways enough. Thank you for such a memorable and rewarding experience!

If you are looking for a paradise on earth you just found it ! Nikki and Cara are one of the most amazing women you can meet. Not only for they kindness, generosity and humor but for everything they have to teach you. This three weeks I've just spend were kind of magic... The conversations, the horses, the landscape, the food, the work, all this details that make a place special. I would say thank you for everything but the best compliment I can give you is not telling you thanks because you've just ruined all the next woofing to come for me. See you again very soon for some scones and roasted hazelnuts, wish you all the best until then. Kiss Una for me... Lucile
