Community-supported agriculture project on the cliffs where the three rivers meet the sea in Wales
Carmarthenshire
** WE ARE NOW TAKING REQUESTS FOR FEBRUARY 2026 ONWARDS :) Get in touch if you'd like to join us for an exciting Spring of planting, building and bringing another year at Lords Park to life ***
We are Abel and Luisa, and our 3 -year-old son, Ruah. We live on a majestic 134-acre National Trust farm on the cliffs above the Three River estuary in west Carmarthenshire, Wales. For the past six years, we have been building a community food and permaculture project, a social enterprise with a mission to regenerate land, people and community, empower people of all ages with the nature skills, ecological perspectives & a relationship to the natural world and harness the power of community food growing as a vehicle for culture. We've offered veg boxes through the CSA (Community-Supported Agriculture) model, volunteering opportunities, courses and workshops in permaculture, nature connection, foraging and cooking, food security work and outreach community events (visit our website to find out more). Earlier this year, we applied for the tenancy of the National Trust farm, Lords Park, a few miles south of our original site, on the strength on the strength of our experience, networks in the area, our community support, and particularly on our carefully thought-out, long-term regenerative vision for the place - including residential courses and retreats, CSA veg boxes, "Little Stewards' kids' programmes, and a holistic design for the land integrating agroforestry, permanent agroecological veg growing, mob grazing, heritage oats and wheat, forest gardens and more. In July 2023, we were told that we has been successful! And we moved in recently....
ABOUT US
Abel is a food grower and passionate permaculture designer and educator, listening for the stories we need to reconnect to land, food and seed. He's been involved in farming and landwork most of his life. He’s also a natural builder and a facilitator of deep experiences in wild places. He believes in food growing as a rich, exciting and accessible pathway to a deeper relationship with the living world, as a livelihood that’s in service to the Earth and for building a thriving culture, healthy communities and ecosystems. He loves to write, tell the old stories around a fire, explore rivers and coastline in his canoe & run wild trails in the mountains. He's been a WWOOFer many times himself in the past - so loves to host people now!
Luisa is a yoga & meditation teacher, experienced homesteader, forager and herbalist and a wholehearted mother. She is currently developing a 'Little Stewards' programme for children here at the farm, and is unwavering in her devotion to living a zero-waste, organic and low impact life, rediscovering the old ways to live and eat seasonally, simply & within our limits and developing a felt, intuitive, whole relationship with our wild human selves.
We also have a friendly and knowledgable working team here on the farm including Paddy (infrastructure and building), Will and Sam (our head growers), as well as a big community of local volunteers and supporters. The farm is sociable, community-focused, but also big enough to enjoy plenty of quiet time in nature too!
We are looking for helpers to bring their energy, enthusiasm, ideas, knowledge, their cultures and heritage to the tapestry of the farm. This is a great chance to be here in the early years of setting up our new site - an opportunity to see how a project like this works. If you think this sounds like something that could work well for you, please do get in touch! We can accommodate individuals, couples or two friends. We look forward to hearing from you.
We usually ask for a contribution of 4 hours per day, 5 days per week (Tuesday to Saturday), leaving Sunday and Monday as a weekend. Ideally, we can do these hours in the morning before lunch. Then you'll have all afternoon to yourselves, as well as two clear days to explore the area, relax, exercise, write, read or work on whatever you like to do in your down time!
Tasks could include carpentry, veg growing, tree planting, firewood chopping and much, much more. We have goats, chickens and have welcomed our first Longhorn cattle. We're keen to find out what you're good at, your gifts and what makes you feel alive, and tailor your experience as much as possible to that. Sometimes, of course, we'll all just need to muck in with what's happening at the moment!
We are happy to share our knowledge in all aspects of permaculture design, agroecological vegetable growing, natural building and carpentry, resiling and conservation, agroforestry and much, much more.
The farm is on the Wales Coast Path, and offers many great walks right from the doorstep. You can be looking at the sea in just a couple of minutes, and a beach is about 10 minutes walk down the hill. Nearby Llansteffan is a beautiful village, with a castle, village shop and cafe, pub, restaurant and beach. Carmarthen, a larger town, is not far away and has everything you might need. We're more than happy to show you the area where time allows, and will, of course, introduce you to our growing community of volunteers, friends and supporters.
Accommodation for WWOOFers is in a warm, dry caravan with views of Llansteffan castle and the sunrise over the Tywi river. It is well equipped with stove, running water and electricity. It's a cosy, private little retreat nestled amongst trees. We generally eat lunch all together on working days (Tuesday-Saturday), while everyone takes care of themselves for breakfast and dinner, with ingredients supplied as needed. We also as a team will often arrange to eat together one evening in the week, our head down to the pub! The food we supply is mostly organic and, as much as possible, from the farm. We do eat well-sourced meat occasionally, but can happily cater for vegetarians and vegans.
We have lots of interests amongst us. Aside from permaculture and agroecological farming, we are into all avenues for connecting with the land - trail running, canoeing and fishing, meditation, writing and more.

It's been a wonderful experience here in [Host], only for ten days unfortunately, which felt like 4. The project is thrilling, the tasks diverse and fulfilling. I'd strongly recommend to anyone, with no hesitation, to go, discover the farm, the landscapes, the castle, and connect with the whole community.

I had a great two and a half weeks at [Host]. I learnt a lot from the two head growers, who were very knowledgable about all things organic growing, and were always open to showing or teaching me things. The daily tasks varied from weeding to harvesting and of course packing the veg boxes on friday. The surrounding area is beautiful, I often watched the sunset from the top field which has a view of the sea all around, only a couple mintues walk from the caravans. The community are very warm and welcoming, and I was lucky enough to be staying when there was a festival week in the local village, so there was lots going on, including making a float for the carnival parade which was a lot of fun! I enjoyed hearing about all of the future plans and projects happening on the farm, and experiencing being part of the community for a short time.

I spent two weeks volunteering at [Host] Farm, and it was a wonderful experience — I wish I could have stayed longer. Luisa, Abel, and Ruahaha were fantastic hosts. Even with their busy schedules, they made time to share their stories, knowledge, and practices of permaculture principles with me.
Luisa is an incredible cook; every meal was an absolute delight and quickly became one of the highlights of each day. Abel was kind and patient in teaching a first-time WWOOFer how to help around the farm. He involved me in the building projects they were working on, such as the polytunnel and the shepherd’s hut, and encouraged me to join in with daily tasks like milking the goats and occasionally herding cattle to a new paddock.
I must also thank the other workers on the farm — Chloe, Paddy, Sam, and Will — for their generosity, time, and for sharing their knowledge while teaching me new skills.
There was also plenty of downtime and things to enjoy when we weren’t working, such as afternoon runs, beach days, and team meetings at the pub.
Overall, I highly recommend volunteering at [Host] Farm — it was a rich and rewarding experience.
