A small holding where we grow our own fruit and vegetables, and keep chickens both for eggs and meat

Myself and my Husband Geoff live in a beautiful 17th Century house in the heart of the Sussex countryside with our Golden Retriever Skye and our cat Treacle. Occasionally we might have a foster dog too. We have a horse, pony and some chickens. We are very lucky to have a small holding comprising of a large vegetable garden, an orchard and 12 acres of ancient woodland. We try to grow as much fruit and vegetables as we can for ourselves sticking to organic principles. We are particularly interested in rewilding and companion planting.
We have hosted international students from all round the world for many years and very much enjoy their company.
Our daily small holding activities vary depending on the time of year. These include weeding, sowing, pruning as well as brambling, planting trees or hedging, dealing with rhododendron in the woods, bringing in wood from the woodland, fencing and general maintenance. This year we really need to repair our large fruit cage so would love to hear from anyone with carpentry or joinery experience but it is not essential.
Our house has five bedrooms so we are able to offer a large bedroom with a double bed and with a private bathroom and shared shower. We have a large sitting room where we tend to watch TV in the evening and a kitchen where we would share our meals. We will provide breakfast, lunch and dinner to our WWOOFERS but if we are unable to cook for you then we will leave you the ingredients to do so yourself. In return we ask for five hours labour per day, five days per week. We also ask that you help out with cleaning up the dishes or stacking the dishwasher and/or some light cooking if the latter is something you enjoy.
I enjoy riding and Geoff loves his golf - he is also a good poker player! We both do Latin and Ballroom dancing together about 2-3 times a week. Locally we have good pubs and lots of public footpaths so this would be a great place for WWOOFERS who like hiking. We are about 4 miles from the sea and only about 25 miles from Brighton which is only 20 minutes by train. During the Summer months there are lots of festivals and shows going on and there are also many historic places to visit. London is only 1 hour 15 minutes away so easy to get to.

Spending time at Sarah and Geoff’s farm is one of the best moment in my life!
It was my first WWOOF experience then I was a bit nervous but before I arrived their place, Sarah kept contacting me, so I felt comfortable.
In their farm, many animals and beautiful nature waited for me.
I tried to work hard, but Sarah and Geoff have never pushed me to work more. Always they were kind and cheerful. In the summer they must be busy but they gave me some work that I had wanted to do. Thanks for their support, I enjoyed working there.
Of course I could take day off enough. If I asked them where I wanted to visit, definitely they managed to take me to several places or stations.
Geoff cooked gorgeous dinner every night and I picked some fresh fruits up from trees in the morning so I have never confused with meals.
Behind their farm, there were beautiful forest. I enjoyed going for a walk with their dogs.
I strongly recommend staying in Sarah and Geoff’s farm!

Sarah and Geoff were really nice ! the atmosphere is frendly and my exchange with them was pleasant. They are patient with your english and your accent ! They can take you to the trainstation and during your off days and so you can go anywhere in the UK, you can also organize your offdays with Sarah and Geoff to stay on another city. If you like taking care of the vegetables garden, you will love this woofing.
