2 acre smallholding in the Scottish Highlands
Highland
Hello WOOFers. My name is Alison and I mainly live alone. The smallholding has suffered a bit of neglect in the past few years as my partner had dementia. I very much want to restore it to proper production - veg deep beds, polytunnel , chicken house and run. At present I have 5 sheep which are for meat, a few hens and a cat who is the rodent control officer. We hope to have pigs again next year, again for meat production.
Usual past farming activities are feeding sheep and (if we have them) pigs and hens. Weeding veg patches and polytunnel, and growing a variety of veg for home consumption.
This has slipped a bit in the past few years so I’d like a bit of help from younger persons to restore and maintain. Fencing repairs and restoration are also included in the mix.
Food will be provided for all meals. Breakfast and lunch will be self serve and dinner will be a cooked meal served in the house. Vegan and vegetarian also catered for,
Hobbies include sewing and cooking/baking as well as reading.

Our days with Alison were absolutely fantastic!
From the very beginning, she was incredibly kind and welcoming. She was genuinely curious about our stories and so generous in sharing her own memories and local culture.
We truly cherished the time spent chatting with her, especially during and after our meals, which were always delicious and varied.
The work approach was very relaxed; Alison never put any pressure on us and provided all the necessary tools and equipment, including some outdoor clothing. The tasks were varied and engaging, ranging from digging the soil and sorting the compost to planting potatoes and even feeding the friendly sheep on the farm.
We highly recommend an experience here for anyone looking for the "true" local spirit. It is a perfect balance between working in nature and having enough free time to explore the surroundings. Even without a car, Alison was extremely helpful, encouraging us to visit the nearby natural beauties and giving us expert advice on the best spots to see according to the weather.
To top it all off, the accommodation was wonderful: a beautiful cottage nestled in the classic Scottish countryside, surrounded by woodlands and endless fields. You definitely won’t be disappointed!

We had a wonderful time with Alison!
We worked on the crops under the polytunnel, we removed the weeds for the new plants, we fed the sheeps :) And we still had a lot of time to visit the Black isle and spend quality time with our host. Alison is a very generous and interesting person, we feel very lucky to have met her. We hope to come again sometime!

Our wwoofing experience at Alison's was truly a wonder! Alison is the loveliest host: funny, kind, fun to talk to, respectful and very considerate of everyone. Her farm is a little paradise made of sheeps, a polytunnel, beautiful trees, a cat and... the best accommodation possible. The place was so pretty and super confortable! Alison shared with us the tasks that needed to be done and took in consideration our strenghts. We simply felt incredibly lucky to share those 4 days with Alison! We already miss her and we obviously recommend her! Thank you Xx
