About Us & Our Place
We’re Hadyn and Caroline, a husband-and-wife team running a sustainable, regenerative farm in the heart of Exmoor National Park. Our work weaves together food, health and nature: from permaculture in our walled garden to Korean Natural Farming techniques, foraging and fermentation. My background is in nutrition and soil health; Caroline brings a passion for textiles and garden design inspired by the local landscape. Life here also includes a lively springer spaniel, two cats, two donkeys, chickens, ducks and thousands of bees.
Daily Life & Activities
Days follow the rhythm of the seasons and weather. WWOOFers might help us forage wild plants and herbs, make ferments, tend vegetables, cut flowers, plant trees, clear rivers, manage meadows or work in the orchard and shelterbelts. Some days will also include helping us prepare for or host workshops and nature-based events.
Accommodation & Meals
You’ll stay in our home at Oare House in the historic and famous Doone Valley, opposite St Mary’s church. We offer a comfortable private bedroom and shared living space. Breakfast, lunch and supper are all provided and can be eaten with us or at times that suit you. We’re happy to cater for most dietary needs and we eat wholesome, largely home-grown or locally sourced food.
Learning Opportunities
WWOOFers can learn about permaculture, Korean Natural Farming, soil and gut health, foraging, mushroom identification (we run the Exmoor Fungus Group), basic agroforestry practices, and creative ways of working with nature. We enjoy sharing knowledge, stories and skills, and encourage you to bring your own interests to the mix.
