Hello Woofers. We are a couple who have retired from professional jobs and now keep an organic smallholding on which we grow all our own fruit and vegetables, produce our own wood for fuel, keep chickens and sell small amounts locally. Our daily routines depend very much on the time of year. From January/February I will be sowing, planting, preparing beds and tending crops while my partner will be mowing, hedging, mulching beds and so on. We cook and eat together each evening but do our own thing for breakfast and lunch. Our food is meat-free and mostly uses what we've produced on the farm. The surroundings here are agricultural. It's great cycling country and we have bikes available. We are five miles from the nearest town for shopping and ten miles from a larger town for swimming pool and other facilities. We are able to provide some lifts. We would welcome any interest in cooking vegetarian meals from time to time and any DIY skills are also useful but certainly not obligatory. You will learn how to become self-sufficient in fruit and vegetable growing and can also participate in wood processing for fuel. For anyone with some previous knowledge of vegetable growing it will be possible to learn further from the wide range of varieties grown here, for example 60+ varieties of beans each year, 30+ tomato varieties and so on. We would hope to match activities to the interests and aims of anyone who wishes to spend time here.

Janet and Roderick are particularly welcoming and attentive hosts. Right from the start, communication was smooth and easy—they answered all my questions directly, which put me at ease before I even arrived. During my three weeks there, they showed great kindness every single day, always making sure I had everything I needed (especially when it came to meals) and checking in to see if I was comfortable with the tasks assigned. You quickly feel right at home, almost like part of the family. I really enjoyed our shared dinners every evening, filled with great conversations on a wide range of topics. A special thank you to Janet, who gently corrected my English to help me improve. A wonderful experience that I highly recommend!

Staying at Janet & Roderick’s place was such a wonderful experience. I’m so glad that this was my first WWOOFing experience. They were incredibly kind, welcoming, generous, and patient, always taking the time to teach me new things and answer my questions. They were so encouraging and supportive that, by the end of my stay, it felt like I was leaving my own home. At [Host], I learned so much about: Plants and vegetables Weeding Different types of seeds Cutting, drying, and storing wood I also learned how to care for the chickens, clean up after them, and collect the eggs. Janet and Roderick were very understanding and allowed me to learn at my own pace, especially as it was something completely new to me. They always made sure I felt comfortable. The bedroom they provide is very comfortable and has a beautiful view. I especially enjoyed preparing and sharing dinner together while having lovely conversations about all kinds of topics. They were also kind enough to offer lifts to Spalding Station on weekends and gave me plenty of recommendations for places to visit and things to do in the surrounding area. I would highly recommend [Host]Farm to any WWOOFer looking for a welcoming, supportive, and enjoyable experience. I truly hope I can come back someday.

I spent three wonderful weeks with Janet and Roderick at [Host] Farm. It was an experience that I will never forget ! They were incredibly welcoming and made me feel at home from the first day ! They helped me a lot to improve my English, always with patience and kindness. I also really enjoyed discovering their culture (especially through the food, we had a lot of magical moments through the food aha !) ! What I appreciated the most were our fascinating conversations. Every evening, we talked about many interesting topics, which allowed us to get to know each other and share our ideas on society. The garden is simply amazing. Everything is well organized and beautiful. It has impressed me a lot ! Jan has an incredible level of passion and expertise. Thank you, Janet, for sharing this passion! During my stay, I did different tasks like weeding, planting potatoes, and cleaning the greenhouse, etc. Nothing difficult ! But I hope I has been helpful for the garden ! I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a meaningful and authentic exchange ! Thank you so much Janet and Roderick !
