We are a family of four who moved to West Wales in December 2024. Driven by a desire to raise our children in connection with the land, we moved with a clear purpose: to establish a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) market garden supplying vibrant, organic fruit and vegetables to our local community. As parents, we felt deeply unsettled by the compounding climate, biodiversity, and global food crises. We believe that by growing food in harmony with natural systems, smallholders, farmers and anyone with access to land, can actively offer a tangible solution to this poly-crisis. Our project is a direct, practical response to the global climate, biodiversity, and food system crises. We believe that hyper-local, agroecological farming is an essential mechanism for navigating the poly-crisis. By nurturing the soil biome, drawing down carbon, and safeguarding local waterways, we hope to prove that farming can heal the earth. True food security means diversifying regional food webs. Through our project, we aim to help rejuvenate rural communities and support farmers' social welfare and mental health, demonstrating how small, collaborative farms can build a resilient and nourished future for West Wales. We are currently building our growing space, installing our first polytunnels, and are already halfway through the organic certification process. Since starting in March 2026, we have planted 28 fruit trees—with many more to come—and established 50 of our planned 100 bio-intensive market garden beds. Following Richard Perkins’ 10m x 75cm No-Dig method, we have already produced enough high-yield crops to supply 20 local household veg boxes this year. Over the next four years, we plan to scale this up to 70 boxes. As part of our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) vision, we are launching weekly volunteer days every Friday to bring people together. Opportunities for learning and activities during your stay: We grow the majority of plants from seeds, so a large amount of propagation work is carried out during the week. Planting out the seedlings, plant care, compost making, orchard management, hedgerow maintenance, crop harvesting are all part of the daily routine and there is a huge amount to learn and be involved with. We'll do our best to be with you during the day, but there will be occasions where you work under your own steam. Our goal is simple: to try and ensure that no matter what happens globally, our village remains resilient, food-secure, and well-fed. Beyond feeding our community, we want to inspire others to launch similar market gardens. A stay with us offers a hands-on feel for agroecological farming, while connecting you with a vibrant network of like-minded individuals. We love hosting WWOOFers during the bright summer months and can comfortably accommodate two people at a time. You will stay in a spacious tent featuring two large, separate, private compartments. WWOOFers have full access to a bathroom in the family home which we encourage you to use, as well as a dedicated indoor dining/living space in the evenings—perfect if you need a table or desk to work or relax. Meals & Community Life: We look forward to sharing five family dinners a week with you at 5:00 PM, and we love taking turns cooking with our guests - we provide the ingredients, please feel free to join in. On the other two nights, you are welcome to use our kitchen to prepare your own meals. We provide all your breakfast, lunch and dinner ingredients; breakfast can be enjoyed at your leisure, and lunches are self-prepared as needed. We are mainly vegetarian as a family but you are welcome to buy meat as an addition, if you wish. Our Schedule & Logistics: We both balance our time between three days of remote desk work and three days of intensive hands-on growing. Because our schedule shifts, we aren't always available throughout the day, so we will sit down together when you arrive to map out the week's tasks. Because we are a Community Supported Agriculture, we have regular volunteers on our farm on Fridays 9-3pm from the local community. To ensure a good fit and keep our energy high, we offer one or two week stays. We are happy to collect you from either Aberystwyth or Carmarthen train stations upon arrival. When we aren't on the farm, we spend as much time as possible dragging the kids on a hike through the Cambrian Mountains and the historic Hafod Estate. We also love escaping to the West Wales coast—just 30 minutes away—for beach days and visits to the picturesque, colorful harbour town of Aberaeron. To fully sightsee and explore the wider region, a car is highly recommended. However, if you prefer to stay local, we have pushbikes available for you to borrow. Just keep in mind that the Welsh landscape is beautifully hilly! Please note that because our schedule is tightly packed between our desk jobs and managing the farm, we won't always have the capacity to take you out sightseeing. We highly encourage independent exploration, so having your own car or a love for local walks is ideal if you want to explore further afield during your time with us. We prefer more mature volunteers so please only apply if you’re 21 years of age or over. We only take volunteers from mid March to end of September.

I had a great time at [Host]. Alistair, Tessa and their two children are lovable and caring people who made me feel at home. I learnt a lot working in their market garden. The tasks were varied and not strenuous. I planted, watered, weeded, sowed, harvested … Tessa or Alistair always worked alongside me or checked that I was all right and everything ok. The tent where I slept was very big and the bed very comfy. I had very good sleep. And last but not least, the food was good, healthy and sufficient. I recommend 100%!
